Ok I know this is a stupid ??, but as a poor student I got to ask. $40 for a single screwdriver...are Snap on MAC Tools really THAT much better than craftsman??? I understand quality but I'm missing something here.

"they last a hell of a lot longer" In my mind for that price you should not have to hunt for a truck...should be able to call and have hooters girl bring you a new one and apologize for the old one wearing out.

well working with the rockwell hardened pos lennox cabinet screws for starters. no idea what they are made of. a brand new 1/4 inch craftsman nut driver will start to slip after 6 weeks of use.

i went with the klein 6 inch comfort grip nut drivers for the length to get into tight spots as well as the comfort grip handles are nice. i also have a set that have the magnet inside. i tried the cheaper vaco ones and they lasted as long as the sears stuff.

my first set from klein lasted about 4 years. after that i have been getting 6 months to a year out of them. something tells me that they have changed the quality of the tool steel they are manufacturing with.

i have some mac profesional mechanics tools but man they were pricey and now that i dont work in a shop on trucks etc. anymore flagging down tim the tool man is not easy.

what do you do to a screwdriver to wear it out in two month?

Snap-on is worth the money ,but the truck arrangement sucks. Try to find a Bahco dealer (snap-on owned trade tools).

I love my Klink snips ! They are the only ones i'll buy. I love their "Fairmont tongs" as well.

$40 screwdriver?? how about a $6 Craptmans....and you don't have to chase down a truck for replacement. we did a large job at a Sun/Snap-on plant. the guy there said that they have the biggest profit margin of all the tool manufacturers. Snap-On hand tools are generally less expensive to produce than Craftsman. i'd sure hate to lose a $40 screwdriver.

Don't be cheap, go find a Mac or SnapOn truck and buy nutdrivers from them, if it breaks rounds whatever they don't care just walk in the truck and they will give you a new one. No questions asked. I can't tell you about the newer nut and screwdrivers but the ones I have range from 5 to 10 years old and all seem to have held up pretty well. The 10 in 1 is a little iffy on the 1/4 and 5/16 ends. Get yourself a long and short Vaco set of nut drivers, 1/4", 5/16", and 3/8" they are reletively inexpensive and do the job well over the life of the tool.

Not the same thing but I bought a pair of Klink snips once, man they were freaking pices of garbage. I now do not buy anything that starts with a "K"

anyone having trouble with premature wear out of kleins 1/4 inch nut drivers specifically the 646-1/4 model ? my klein rep is being stubborn over the warranty.

dont know what they are making the small furnace cabinet screws out of anymore but they sure round off the inside of the hex fast.

have noticed also the quality with craftsman running down hill. the nut drivers used to be a lot thicker where the hex is. some of my old professional series stuff has been discontinued. so now it sits in the workshop at home. dont wanna bust it.
