I received the TIF ZX-1 with pointy probe tip a week ago and tried to replace only the tip while keeping the probe with the new tip plus the barrel filter as it works as a FM x FM adapter and it worked, no need to buy a complete probe kit for it. Only question is that the old pointy tip uses small filters which looks spongy as in the pictures I showed on my first post. So I don't have it and replaced it with H10pm filters which look the same but they seems to be made from cotton and it worked well on it. Only thing I am worried about is that the cotton filter seems tight and might put the vacuum pump on pressure more than the spongy filters with much pores.

Just one more thing, anyone got experience with new TIFZX that got horizontal lighting and if it would live for few years of field work? the place where I am living (UAE) doesn't have service or warranty coverage for TIF products so I would rely on spare parts only (probe, filter, sensor, battery). So the device that would live and need little to no service is preferable for me. I have inficon D-tek select, H10pm, yellowjacket accuprobe II and fieldpiece srl2k7 with spare parts and all seems to be durable and work well, so I just want to look for a durable TIFZX model because it is a great heated pentode leak detector next to H10PM.
Oh I also forgot to mention something about the wand and tip. I guess all the TIFZX models new and old got a wand that ends with male thread and the old pointy tip got a female thread so you can connect it directly. But the new tip has a male thread and the plastic barrel filter that comes with it got female thread on both side so you can connect between wand and new tip. So I guess just buying the TIFZX tip and filter kit will solve the problem of installing new tip without buying a new wand right? Thanks a lot
I see that makes more sense now I live in UAE and they don't sell those leak detectors here. The one I showed you I did order from US and to be honest I saw two models of the old TIFZX-1 one with old tip pointy and one with new one. But the new TIFZX only comes with the new tip
Ok I see you are not in the US so this makes more sense
Shoot I really like the old filter too. It might not be a new or old issue though. Are those your pics with the sharp pointy tip. If it is it may be an overseas model. I've only seen that tip in foreign manuals. From pictures I see the ZX and ZX-1 all have the same tip and filter that is segmented at the end and the filter looks like a plastic barrel (the one I like). Anyway from the pics the pointy tip version looks like it has a female thread on the wand and the other version is a male thread so you would need a new wand if you want to change to a different tip and filter.

I just wanted to change the tip of the old unit because I found it hard to find the old filters. Most places I know they do not sell, out of stock. So if I want to use the other new filter which come in cartridge then I have to change to the new tip right? My concern was if it was easy to just take of the old tip and install the new filter cartridge with new tip Also, I didn't know that the old tip is even better than then new one. Thanks for the great tip and it seems all the fuss about new TIFZX design is a lie :P

TIFZX probe tip Hello everyone, I have a new model of TIFZX leak detector (with horizontal lights) and I only used it twice for testing purposes. Recently the pump inside started to be really noisy and I opened the device to check if there is any problem like blockage or lubrication. I Found out that the pump is not balanced or aligned well in the device and that causes the pump to be noisy but I couldn't fix it yet just confirmed that by pressing the pump a bit. Anyhow, I know that there are two models of TIFZX, old one is names TIFZX-1 and it is smooth with vertical lights and new one TIFZX with horizontal lights. I wanted to buy the old one which I think would be more reliable and found many great deals for great condition TIFZX-1 on ebay but the problem is that they have old probe tips. I have like 3 replacement sensors so it is not a problem to replace one if case it is gone bad because both models use the same sensor as far as I know but I searched for the old tip and it got different filters. Is it easy to change the old tip model and install the new filter and tip on the same probe or I have to buy new probe with tip? I attached few pictures for clarification.
