I ate at Rocco's In Williamsburg, VA last week, meatest pork ribs I've ever had, and they weren't greasy. It's a new place across the street from Cracker Barrel on Bypass Road.

For Carolina lowcountry style, Bessinger's BBQ in the Charleston, SC area. Sweet mustard base sauce, and the onion rings are incredibly good. Not to mention the pork, brisket, ribs. We order the sauce from them shipped to us in FL.

Both of those suck in my book. Next time try Central BBQ or The BBQ Shop. Central has awesome ribs and turkey, BBQ shop has great bologna and pretty good pork. I know there is alot of people that like dry ribs but when I get done eating bbq I want to need a shower. Wet and spicy is the way to go!

Yesterday I was saddened. Tips4U BBQ is no more. True to thier name the rib tips were fantastic. Its almost a good thing the sauce was unimaginative, because the meat carried the flavor. The service was wretched though and I suspect led the way to thier demise.

Blacks is excellent. Smitty's is great too although Chisolm Trail BBQ has better sides. I've eaten at Kreuz BBQ and it was very similar to Smittys althought I preferred the atmosphere at Smittys. Lockhart has the largest concentration of great BBQ places than any other Texas small town I've seen.

Memphis is certainly barbecue heaven. Rendezvous may well be the largest barbecue joint I've ever visited, but IMHO hardly the best Memphis has to offer.

I thought Marlowe's was the best "upper end" barbecue restaurant.

I think Central BBQ was the best I've found in Memphis.

Neely's barbecue spaghetti is the best spaghetti!!!

Rudy's in San Antonio (as well as other cities now).

Love the slogan on the back of the server's shirts:

"I didn't claw my way to the top of the food chain to eat vegetables."

Another place in Houston, can't remember the name, but their billboards were great:

    "This ain't advertisin'...it's directions".

Im from Tennessee but last July me and my girlfriend went to St Louis to catch a cardinals game and went to Pappys. Great food, not a fancy place but the ribs were great!

I agree about Bubbalous is real good in Orlando. I will say that the best I've had was in Kansas City on a training trip. It was actually at this really old classic hotel downtown which I can't remember the name. Never understood the use of dry rubs being from Florida, until I had some KC ribs, dang it that's good. Now I can't make'em without it. Everything we ate downtown KC was awesome, the BBQ and especially the aged steaks from Makers Mark restuarant. WOW. Best food consistly from any trip.

A little town in SC named Manning has a BBQ rest. called D & H BBQ. I love eating there, the food is great, the people are awesome, the owners mother came up to my table sat down and started talking to me out of the blue. If you are ever in the area you should try it.

Forget about Old Homestead steakhouse, overpriced and can't hold a candle to Peter Luger..
I agree with Beba - taste of Texas - love it!

Pappa's Soul Food Kitchen here in Eugene. If you're ever out west in Oregon, visit this place. Hands down, the best.

Good BBQ in southern California is pretty hard to find since Mexican food tends to dominate the food market, but i think Lucielle's is pretty darn good. I think it is sort of a small chain though since it is located near a local mall.

Being up here in VT we don't have any BBQ places. One guy started one and it sucked so he went out.

A local guy in Louisville KY told us, when we were visiting, about a place. It is called The Front Ave BBQ. The locals call it the FAB.

The man gave us directions and ended with "When you see the smoke that's where it is."

The place was great, everyone made you feel at home. If you ever go to Louisville look it up.

not BBQ but the steaks are most excellent. 2 locations in the DFW area. Love and War in Texas. The prime rib is awesome!. And the Shiner is so close in freshness to the mothers tit in Shiner Tx. I give that place a solid 9.5. Not a 10, Still looking for that. Also there is a restaurant in Canadian Tx that is to die for. It's called the Cattle Exchange. Everything is great and the bread pudding "drool" will knock your shorts off!!. If you want directions let me know. If you are ever in the Amarillo area it's about 100 miles northeast and it's worth the trip. Don't get snookered into going to the Big Texan. Cattle Exchange is 50 times better!! Happy dining!!
Can't wait for my next service call in Canadian!!!! And I could expense it too!!
