I love these controls. Yes, they are somewhat primitive, but thats the real beauty. Smart Controls allows you to create truly open apps. No kinky SNVTs or any other lon obsenities are allowed. For integration into a third party lon system, these things are a perfect fit.

By the way, the slope function is like a reset function.

I wish that I could help you, but I don't use the function block programming. I program with a version of C called Neuron C, and use the program to compile that.

I've got a demo version of Visual C that's used to program the EC240's, (we haven't purchased the dongle). I've also got a working program I loaded into it for familiarization and evaluation. Not being real familiar with programming at this level, some of the devices and the numerical values they are processing are confusing to me. An example of this is the Slope device. I've read the Help info on the operation and execution of XoY, Selector, etc. and I'm just not gettin' it. Do you have time to explain? Thanks, ---gman

What is an ASC?

I know what they are. Neuron C only works with LON controllers.

Visual Controls is the name of the program that I was referring to. You need to use that to compile your Neuron C programs, or else you have to buy NodeBuilder, which is quite expensive. In fact, I believe Visual Controls is the least expensive program that you can use to compile Neuron C.

The version I run is 2.00, so I don't know if they have made any improvements since then. Like I said, it is a decent product for the price.

I used to use those quite a bit. The software (at least the version I used, which is several years old at this point) was buggy, and requires a USB key. Their display can only be programmed in Neuron C, and offers no documentation. I ended up programming the units in Neuron C as well, though you had to use their compiler to make an .apb file that you would load with LonMaker. Their tool also had a way to bind LNS variables that is pretty primitive.

I also had a lot of issues over time with units that would not commission, for various reasons. I would say maybe even 10%. I could not go to any job involving these without bringing spares. In hindsight, I think that the problem may have been with the circuit board grounding to the Neuron chip in some way, because later on I experienced a similar problem with something that I was trying to design. The service pin messages were not always being sent. In some cases as well, if I loaded an application that worked, it would not accept a new one without giving me fits.

I think they worked better with 24VDC power than with AC power. They did not have a frame ground input pin as some devices do, so that could have helped the situation too.

All in all, for the price, they are not bad, if you have a working application to load into them. You want to have that developed and ready to go.
