    The big 3 -
    Humidity control
    Ventilation
    Filtration

Oh, and don't bring bad stuff in or make bad stuff (ozone combines readily with other stuff to make new stuff, usually bad stuff).

Start with removing known pollutants. Use the recommended filtered fresh air change rate suggested by ASHRAE/American Medical Assn. of an air change in 3-4 hours when occupied. This purges indoor pollutants and renews oxygen. They also suggest that the indoor %RH 50% be maintained with a Max of 60%RH. This is limit mold and dust mites growth.

Calm winds during all the seasons of the year requires mechanical ventilation. During extreme winter, with cold and wind, most homes get enough natural infiltration that mechanical is not need all the time. Some suggest controlling fresh air ventilation with CO2 controller like the Overture System by Broan Hartford WI. With idea settings, the CO2 controller detects one occupant in home without adequate fresh air infiltration and cycles fresh air. This avoids over-ventilating during non-occupancy or when natural ventilation is adequate to purge indoor pollutants and renew oxygen. In green grass climates, most suggest the addition of a whole house dehumidifier to maintain <50%RH when occupied evenings and rainy days.

Adequate air changes and upgraded merv +13 air filtering is thought to reduce chances of transfer of contagious diseases among co-occupants. Several whole house dehumidifiers like the Santa Fe Ultra, Broan, Trane, and others offer these to filter the fresh and house air.

    Keep us posted.

Make sure they are quality units. Need UV-C bulbs to be any good. There are a lot of cheap units with UV-A and UV-B bulbs that do almost nothing.

Covid creating big market for a lot of cheap junk units.

When I walk into a house with ozone I smell it immediately and it makes me want to hold my breath. I am not allergic but why would anyone want to have that nasty air in their house?

Google to the rescue. Apparently photocorrosion of aluminum in UV plasmonics is a thing.

What's plasmonics you say? Don't know. Does it have anything to do with today's so-called IAQ devices? Don't care. I'm a UV hater myself too and that is fascinating.

    Anyone seen issues?

Recently had condensate dripping off face of coil into return plenum. Cleaned coil twice & helped, not sure cured.

I got a sanuvox unit in my house, not sure about air quality but make sure you choose one odorless. The smell may be produce by the neutralization of the odor inside (ozone)

It's amazing how even low levels of ozone disables the nose.

The website said that it does more like create some sort of ions that help clean the air but that sounds fishy to me.

I had one put in and the guise was because they said it kept the pan clean which reduces mold, rust, and black smudge.

Inside air is outside air with indoor pollutants add and O2 consumed by the occupants. The consumed O2 is replaced by CO2 from the occupants. Add what any equipment you want but maintain a steady trickle of fresh air mixed and circulate through the home to maintain ideal levels of O2 19.5% using outdoor air (20.5% O2). Most suggest a fresh air change in 3-4 hours. Maintain 40-50%RH in the home to control mold/miwdew/bacteria/dust mites plus comfort. Add what ever you want for equipment but good air filtering and air change is a must.

Mechanical fresh filtered air, humidifying/dehumidifying when needed is needed for health and comfort. Avoid wet spots for extended days. A small whole house dehumidifier with a Merv 13 air filter (like the Santa Fe Ultra/Broan/Trane etc. units) is ideal for green grass climates.

Fresh air change and dry also reduces odors depending on the number and size of the cats.

    Keep us posted.
