I wouldn't be being honest if I didn't think your just being too out in left field over your anxiety over this.

We can disagree here. It's not aginst the law. I disagree with you. In my opinion, your wound too tight.

Bob I am not averse to joking around and am not suggesting that Temp should not joke around and I appreciate his remorse for using such language. What I object to is using less than civil language. Yes I have used a few expletives in the ARP section and maybe even a few in the Pro zones but not here.

I also have a problem overall with the way that our countries language skills as a whole have gone down hill. People nation wide have degraded their vocabulary to the point that the dictionary can be just about done away with. I see it in signs and in responses to queries and e-mails from all walks of life. The use of the Internet as a communication medium has reduced the collective net vocabulary of this country to a second grade level.

It is frustrating to read a reply from some one where they use there and it should be their. Or where some one uses the term lite instead of light. Lite is not even a real word it is advertising jargon.

I know intelligent people that cannot carry on a conversation without using profanity because they won't exercise their minds enough to use a better more insightful response.

I assure you if you respond to a thread in an inarticulate way your advice will be discounted or ignored if poorly recounted even if it is correct. You are judged by your speech.

Temp let me ask you this have you ever had a customer tell you they found you from this site. Well I have I receive 4 or 5 calls a month from people in my area and another 4 or 5 a month asking for me to recommend someone in another part of the country. That may not seem like allot of calls but that can easily be $100,000 or more in sales a year. Granted yours or another’s language may not keep them from calling me but it will keep them from calling you. If I have no respect for your skills because of the way you promote yourself here would I be likely to tell them to contact you if they need someone in your area.

Customers may think you badly if you swear every once in awhile?

I know the rules and agree with them. And so Temprite was apologetic.

Customers you say hey? I own my own shop. I have been out with customers of mine who make me look like a saint. Get off the Cross.

This aint for you alone Classical. Or your customers. As a matter of fact, I have one of the pottiest mouths here, and also hold my own on most things mechanical, to which from this site alone, I have attracted a lot of work. I have landed 4 large commercial accounts on here, through people who have seen me ugly and pretty here.

    Temprite, no worries brother.

I am known to cuss myself a little on here.

And as a matter of fact, I can tell your a genuine charachter, just plain ole plain ole, cause you write as you talk as if you were just BSing with the boys, which is suppose to be what we come here and play around for.

Of course, somehow some of the holier than though types on here think that it aint dignified.

You know what I am saying.

BTW. Orange County Chopper guys. You know em. I grew up in a small town in WI, and every time I watch the show it reminds me of home and the people there. My old man, and Senior could be clones other than looks. Same crazy ways.

Can't we all just get along??

Just about everyone in here has slipped in a cuss word once in a while. It's not the end of the world.

If you joke with somebody put a smily at the end.
  • 09-25-2005, 03:12 PM
    HeyBob
Let's see, who else likes to joke and play here?

Fat Eddy, Nevada, Gruvn, Gusm, Thero, Photon, Acrop, yep you will fit right in, been here since July and you're telling a guy that's been here for three years (classical) how to act?

You got some intestinal fortitude buddy! I am sure some of the other guys will be along pretty soon to straighten you out.

I will apologize since you say you were playing around. It is hard to tell with just the written word without benefit of facial expressions or inflection.

However you still need to read the rules and understand the site for what it is a public place.

We are judged by how we speak or in this case how we put together our words on a screen. When you use crass and vulgar language you just diminish your self in the eves of those around you.

It is easy to forget you are not in a face-to-face conversation because that is the intent of the forum.

I try and make it a practice to write the same as I speak if I write something here I would say it to your face.

I also have no sense of humor so I take everything at face value. As to that stupid steers and queers line, come on that is so old it is ridicules. Beside I stomped in the heads of way to many Yankees and Californians while in the Army for those remarks to bother me anymore.

Temp it is obvious you are not the brightest bulb around but I expect you can read the rules.

It is not my sensibilities that you hurt I am sure if need be I can come up with language you have never heard. The point is this is a public forum and the rules prohibit the use of vulgar language. I realize you New Yorkers have no class or style but try and stick to the forum rules.

What you don’t understand is many of us have customers that frequent this site and we try to project an intelligent and civil persona here. That is the way Don (BOSS) and BC1 want it.

He's from Orange County, New York. That's how those chopper guys talk.

Maybe he's looking to get his own show on the Discovery Channel.
