I would definitely research what you have. Get to know it. Like others said, just search the web and talk to coin dealers and even forums as R12 said. The more you know...the better off you'll be.

Find a gold coin forun.

You will learn more there than anywhere else, in my opinion.

Just like this forum is THE PREMIER site online for HVAC/R .... there ate other forums out there which are just as active and populated with memberships of very knowledgeable souls who will answer all your questions.

There is much more to gold coins than meets the eye.

the best thing to do is get all the info on what you have and the condition of each,and that will determine the prices.try http://www.littletoncoin.com which is fixed priced dealer out of NH with a catalog on them.the next for best viewing of each coin is http://www.heritagecoin.com they are and auction house and have all old coins ever minted for sale.this site has a great scan of each coin and the bidding price to give you an idea of their values.the front is the observe,and the back is the reverse in coin terms,and most are in plastic holders meaning they have been rated on their grade.EBAY as mentioned is a good info site to get familiar with them especially if you have rare ones date/mintage site/and flaws add to its value.watching the buyers on EBAY is an education they know their limits on what a coin is worth.

Get um in your hand, then get on e-bay.

Find coins exactly like yours, and what their worth. Maybe you can locate a big gold dealer there too. Type "gold coin values" or "gold coin apprasal" on Google. That might help. Don't approach selling them blind. Know what you have and what it's worth. There are some who are actually investing in gold now because if the stock market should drop again after another terrorist strike or such, the value of gold will most likely go up. I would like it if you gave me , oh,,, just a small handful of those. LOL!

I have a swamppppp...I mean piece of land that I would gladly tradd...oh never mind.

I have some in my safety deposit box.

Want to buy some land.

What are my options? Only thing I have found is a coin store.
