Nordyne manufactures probably 60% of the brand X units. In these parts Nordyne sells under the Gibson, Frigidaire, name. We use them when the customer wants a lower price and does not care what equipment is on site. The air handler is a POS IMHO, but then again in these applications it only has to last one year.
Since anyone can buy one of these units, that includes my grandmother, these can be found in all manner of ill conceived installations. My favorite to date was in a condo, the air handler was installed horizontally upside down. I kid you not the drain line was coming out of the top of the blower. I was not there to fix that problem, the unit was on a secondary drain pan so it was draining quite nicely on it's own. I was there for the other two units that did not work correctly. Seems the installer mixed the units liquid and suction lines up, I like when they do that. The only nicer thing is when they mix the control wires up and the second floor unit comes on when the first floor calls.

This is not to say that installers for Carrier or Lennox dealers don't make these mistakes. But the branded companies usually have a tech guy or will recommend one of their dealers to assist in unscrewing the job up.

    Getting that idea.

Was going to go for it due to the price.

But carrier rep made me an even better offer..

Nordynes Air handlers are way cheaper. Condensing units are the same price though.

Guy promised me copeland scrolls comfort tech diagnostic units in every one.

Everyone has to have something..every time I get mad and think of changing Heil sucks me back in.

lol Yeah it's hard to mess up a fart fan. All nordyne equipment is exactly the same I know that. Just can't figure out if it's trash or not.

Don't know about the furnaces ad a/c but they make some decent fart fans.

I think they make some of the best 80% and 92% equipment out there. Their 95% 2 stage stuff leaves a little to be desired in terms of features, but is solid durability wise.

I love their backwards compatible design. need a board for a 15 year old furnace? No problem, just pick up the board used in a current 80 or 92% model and pop it in. Fits right in and upgrades the furnace to most of the current features at the same time.

    Info would be appreciated.

Posted under a different forum didn't get as much info as I'd like to have.

Haven't dealt much with Nutone (Nordyne) Equipment.

Anyone taken the class for the 24 seer or installed much of their equipment or serviced a bunch.

I've worked on several units but most were installed poorly so I don't want to base my thoughts on that brand using that as judgement.

So if you like em or hate em please let me know why!
