ten bucks says the concrete co wanted to move next to a councillers and or mayors business and they decided that the muffler man gets a new neighbour.

personally I think that owning a business and being in local, provinical, or federal office is an automatic conflict of intrest and you are automatically biased and should not be allowed even at the local level.

I understand this mans trouble i can understand why he did what he did too

Heard an update on the news this morning. He was pis*ed because they were allowing a concrete company to move in next to him. The city is asking for federal and state aid money to repair the damage he did, so we could wind up paying for it

Some times you got to lose the battle so that you can win the war. He should have pulled up stakes and moved out of town.

When Hugh Carey was governor of New York State back in the 1970's he was like a little Hitler towards small business.
He made his now fameous speech, "The days of Wine and Roses are over for you people.(small business)." He was bleeding heart democratic liberal.

As a result my family and I moved to a neighboring State and started again. When history was written 750,000 other small business people left the State of New York during the same rien of terror. This is when NYS became a welfare state.

Anyway the point being. You can't fight city hall. You got to work around them or you can drive yourself nuts. Like this guy did.

We were laughing at him calling him an idiot watching the "rampage" after work on Friday. What kinda mechanic forgets to protect that radiator? Hell, he coulda mowed down that whole town! Till he hit a building with a basement. Thats what we thought would stop him. WHAAAAAAM!

    Colorado...................................What a mess.

One heck of a machine. Too bad he did this I’m sure his family could use him. Maybe this will make the small city councils around the country take a look at what they are doing. What a shame.

The real question is did he have A/C in that thing?

The man probably felt powerless against the system. So he empowered himself mechanically. What is it, that takes a man there.

Going postal is very copy cat. This guy went Mechanical. Let this be a warning to all those mere mortals out there.

GRANBY, Colo. (AP) — Friends said Marvin Heemeyer hadn't been seen much lately, and now they know why: He was turning a bulldozer into an armor-plated vehicle that was impervious to SWAT team bullets.

On Friday, the muffler shop owner drove his contraption through town and within two hours had knocked down or damaged nine buildings before the machine ground to a halt in the wreckage of a warehouse. He then apparently shot himself, said Grand County Sheriff Rod Johnson. No one else was injured.

City officials said he was angry over a zoning dispute and fines for city code violations at his business in the town about 50 miles west of Denver.

On Saturday, crews used a crane to remove Heemeyer's body from the improvised tank.

His buddy Pete Mitchell said his friend was probably smiling when the vehicle, equipped with a TV camera for guidance, busted out of the side of a garage.

"That's the kind of guy he was," Mitchell said, calling his friend "vindictive."

Heemeyer loved to weld, and this surely was his masterpiece, probably constructed over a several-month period, he said.

Town manager Tom Hale said Heemeyer was angry after losing a zoning dispute over land near his muffler shop. Heemeyer also had been fined $2,500 in a separate case for not having a septic tank and other city code violations at his business, Hale said.

When he paid the fine, he enclosed a note with his check saying "Cowards," Hale said.

Heemeyer's first target was a shop at the cement plant, which sat about 100 yards from where he built the amored-plated bulldozer. He also damaged a newspaper office, town hall-library, bank, hardware store and a utility office.

Nothing had seemed out of the ordinary at his corrugated-metal building, where he kept cars, snowmobiles, boats, and now it seems a bulldozer. Mitchell said Heemeyer hadn't been seen much of late.

His skills as a welder were legendary, Mitchell said.

"He could change a muffler by himself in 20 minutes," Mitchell said. "No wasted motion. He knew what he was doing."

What an amazing man. It's a shame how things got so out of hand and turned out.

Guess they underestimated his potential to get even.

I wonder what they did to pi*s him off that much.

You have to admit, it's one badass machine!

Grand County undersheriff Glen Trainor said the bulldozer’s armour plates consisted of two sheets of half-inch steel with a layer of concrete between them.

Heemeyer used a video camera and two monitors found inside to guide the bulldozer, Grand County Commissioner Duane Daley said. Two guns were mounted in front and aimed through portals. Other portals were cut in the back.

He is thought to have used a homemade crane found in his garage to lower the armour hull over the bulldozer and himself.

"Once he tipped that lid shut, he knew he wasn’t getting out," Daley said.

Investigators searched the garage where they believe Heemeyer built the vehicle and found cement, armour, steel and a homemade crane.

Later after posting I heard and read in yesterdays paper that he intended this to be a final suicidal act. And the article even said he deliberately avoided hurting anyone.

Don't know much more cause Sundays article was a replay of the Saturday one. And even the one article I read on my desktop page was straight off the wire.

Guess news is slow out of the mountains.

I do feel sorry for the guy having to go to that extreme and for his family. Hell of a bulldozer tho.

Armed Man in Bulldozer Goes on Rampage

By P. SOLOMON BANDA, Associated Press Writer

GRANBY, Colo. - A man who lost two bitter battles with town officials plowed an armor-plated bulldozer into the town hall, a former mayor's home and at least five other buildings before the machine ground to a halt in the wreckage of a warehouse, authorities said.

    Haven't heard the outcome yet.
