This is going to be a great tool in determining system efficiencies by the contractor before a third party evaluation and save the contractor call back to correct inefficiencies found by the third party evaluator.

Buck is there any updates? Noticed on this site http://www.get-cool.info/index.html a notice "New Web Site Coming Soon"
Sorry for the lack of updates! I've been working out west with partners on some very politically charged projects; lets just say time warp suckage syndrome....

OK, so here's an update; I have a beta tablet version for an I-Pad I am coding and testing at the moment.

The neat thing about it is it is based on JavaScript, and will run on any device that can use either a Safari (Apple) based or Google Chrome based web browser! That means it will run on both PC's and MAC's (I am testing it on a PC and an I-Pad concurrently) desktops and laptops as well as the I-Pad and presumably an Android based tablet with the same screen size (or larger) than the I-Pad. It will not (visually) work on an I-Phone, Android, or Windows based phone at this time (until I make a smaller screen version).

This version is relatively "light" (meaning a relatively small web download), and should run very fast on most devices, however to perform the "heavy" calculations, it needs to send the data to a server - so basically the application requires an internet connection to get a "live" detailed calculation. If you do not have a data connection, the application will store the information until you do have a connection. I am also porting over some of the more simple libraries so it can still perform some basic calculations even if you do not have a connection.

Before you get too upset about this model, please understand that this is the only way to get the application out across the different platforms in a timely and economic fashion (otherwise the application has to be coded in 3 different languages and submitted to Apple for approval before being allowed in their store for downloading). To put that into perspective, that would run well over $500,000 in additional development costs. This is the direction the computer/software industry has taken...it has its pluses and minuses....

There are benefits to this model as alluded to above: it will run on your desktop as well as a laptop or tablet. It allows for automatic updates. It will allow you to use it on many devices (with a single subscription license). If desired, you could track where your employees are going and see their testing/inspections in real time. Theoretically, we could even make it show appointments and perform other "administrative" tasks if desired.

We will likely be testing this with students at a tech school first, then I'll post a public Beta version for you to try out as well.

What I need from the HVAC-Talk community is feedback on what devices they would like to run this on. Do you envision using this on a tablet or prefer a Smart-phone interface while in the field (or a small laptop)?

    Hi Bill,

Yes you'd need to talk to the folks at CleaResults about it. They were using the beta version of my software, but were not electronically recording it, and it became a data management issue at the end of the year. I understand they are using a spreadsheet to capture information this year, but I have not seen it. I am not sure if the spreadsheet has any analytical capabilities or not. They want to move to laptops for easier data collection and management (which I understand). I will have a version for later after I clear up some other obligations.

The purpose of the software is to help the technician understand what the system is up to and record the results. Without saying too much more - it would seem that even when the software was showing issues - some techs either ignored it or didn't understand.

Yes you can use the software with or without any programs, and with any gauges you want. It will help good technicians do their job faster, it will not make poor technicians better - however it may help document why they are bad!

Give them a call. Let me know how you make out.

Not any really much longer then longer it wold take you to right it down. The interface that Testo has is nice but it doesn't be a huge time saver. And I find the DigiCool to be the best out there.

Using GetCool Opens up the market to Commission unit. I use it a lot to help trouble shoot units.

The DigiCool and GetCool is a Gret Combo.

You'll hate to use any thing other then the DigiCool once you get yours The thig Can take a wack, They are turely made for the field.

Hey Fcs, Does it take a while to enter all the info in manually? I'm picking up a set of Digi-Cools next week and am still looking into getting this too hopefully before air season.

since the sink is just a Testo gauge interaction is that worth the purchase of Testo over DigiCool?

I have the 523 and am not that impressed. I have been contemplating the 1250's, now there is a new 550.

    thanks for ANY input.
The Digi-Cool gauges are fine. You can purchase the software seperately and use it with any gauges you like. The only difference is you have to enter the tool/measurement data into the software manually (which a lot of users do). There is no requirement to use or purchase the Testo tools with this software.

    Hope that helps!

Did you get a chance to try it out yet? I'd love your feedback on features and user interface.

    Get-Cool Update

More information about the software can be found here:

    http://www.get-cool.info/

This is a temporary web for the software until a new website to support it is up and running.

    Get-Cool UPDATE:

Demo and Registration for the software is all set! I will start updating the website to support the software this coming week. I will post a page for those interested in giving it a try first - so you'll be able to download it and install it on a Palm or PocketPC running StyleTap. It is set up for a 7 day, 100 use demo limit. After that you'll have to pay.

We really want this software to work for technicians in the field, so we need to hear back from users. In anticipation of our first relase and update, what refrigerants would you like to see in the application?

We currently have R22, R410a, R407c, R404a, R134a and R12 in the application. The refrigarant PT properties are based on NIST Standards, so the temps may be slightly different than what you'd see on a chart from Dupont, Honeywell, National etc...
