what are the ramifications of this
I got hit monday,,,, 220 condensing unit fans in box fed from fuse block in condensing unit knife blade disco outside looked inside both legs were open. Wound up being whoever installed one of those outdoor air economizer setups for coolers tied into the 115v lighting circuit and somehow created a nice backfeed through the fans. be careful
Yeah, Don needs all the ***SS's**** he can get. Be careful, it's a jungle out there.
On your Ass They don't care because they don't understand how it feels and if you died it wouldn't be them. Pisses me off too. Glad your OK.
On your Ass
You've got to be extra careful on these older jobs (and some of the newer ones). It wasn't until sometime in the eighties that NEC required running a separate bonded ground wire (as I understand it) and with some of the old stuff I run into it's wise to be cautious. Check with your Fluke volt stick (at least) or better with a meter before touching anything.
Hey, it could have been worse, at least you woke up. I hope you shut it down.
I hate it when that happens. If and when you go back, let us know the results. I take it that the electrician is either backed up a year or blew it off. Watch out for those hidden dangers.
went too an acct of mine cust.says walkin not cooling, check the walkin out evap, covered in ice,go down stairs too shut unit down, got knocked on my ass.getting 120v to the whole condesing unit, when i went down on my tired old knees to check conn. for any kind of leak,or any thing out of normal i had one hand on the compressor dome the other hand feeling around the flare nuts at the drier, next thing you know i am on my ass, told customer hes got a problem and iam not touching this thing, until hes calls an electrician.he says he called the elec. ayear ago when i advised him too put in a new disconnect, place had the old knob and tube wireing, jesus you think maybe some thing is not grounded.
