No No! Speak up loud and often please!

My skins thick and I will take all the help and opinions I can get. I am well aware I do not have the back ground or experience as a lot of the folks here. I've hung around the background here watching what you guys have to say and it's amazing how many times its saved my butt.

I have never said to anyone that I'm a chiller mechanic and in fact I tell my employers often that I'm not but I seem to end up working on them a good bit.

York56 the unit ia a YTH3C1E2-CRJ and the compressor is YDTL-120.

Got a call at home (on vacation) that the problems are getting worse and its pulling in air qiucker so I will probably be seeing it again next week and it sounds like time to get ready to pull the charge.

I'll pass your suggestion on. I would not want to myself as I have not had any formal training on a teardown of this machine. I have the manual an have done a few overhauls on other brands but I am a firm believer that you should admit your limitation.

On this instance it might be better to wait till warm weather since the second unit is larger and I would hate to see it struggle to run the light loads it would see now or have repeated short cycles.

    Thanks for your input.

    0.001 with effort.

I found the info I needed on my old laptop. Travel seemed excessive but while high it is within tolerances. The unit is the smaller of two but is still oversized for the load it it usually runs at and spends a lot of run time at about 1.5 DT.

    Question on shaft travel?

Was sent to check a YT with some unusual vibration and noise. Met with a sub who ran a vibration test on the machine and I pulled the coupling and checked the shaft alignment. Before reassembling I checked the compressor shaft for side to side travel and with light (hand only) pressure I found the shaft would travel side to side 0.015 each way .030 total and with light pull up (again by hand only) would lift 0.020.

Seems excessive to me for bearings to allow that much travel and the seal was beginning to seap a little more before the checks but I would like your thoughts and opinions. I of course have run into a wall trying to locate manufacturer tolerances but I have tried before asking here.
