At least it is in "wall of shame" and NOT "wall of pride".

Better run down to the tatoo shop quick and have one of those sections erased or a breaker added. I see a dead short. You could lose that arm.

oil burner man, thanks. I didn't see how power wouldn't backfeed. I'm going to the supply house tomorrow and get a peek at a Taco zone valve. We don't work with them, I just like to increase my knowledge and try to learn as much new stuff that I can. I have worked with pumps but only in single application. Thanks again.

    troyorr,
There are 3 terminals on Taco zone valves. 1 2 3.

One low voltage leg from the transformer goes directly to the thermostat. From there the thermostat feeds the number 1 terminal on the Taco zone valve.

The other low voltage transformer leg feeds to the number 2 terminal on the Taco transformer, and feeds one side of a burner control (T T).

When the thermostat (switch) calls for heat it will activate the Taco zone valve to open up.
The number 3 terminal on the Taco zone valve will then power up, using terminal number 1's supply. Terminal number 3 feeds the other burner control T T.

    Taco zone valve:

Terminal 1 > Load from thermostat. [via one leg from low voltage transformer].

Terminal 2 > Load from other leg of low voltage transformer. [also feed to one side of burner control T T].

Terminal 3 > Feed to other burner control T T.

BTW - Taco zone valves now have two schematics on new valve heads. One is a piece of paper attached to it and another is a stick on...Save the paper ones for future instruction guides until you know how to memorize the wiring.

It looks as though the way the zone valves are wired, any one of the three thermostats will power all three of the valves. Or is that the way it is supposed to work?

It's a Taco zone valve schematic. It's showing the maximum allowed zone valves that can be used with one low voltage transformer. 3 zone valves maximum per transformer.
Three of the circles represent zone valves. The other three circles represent thermostats. The other thingy there represents the low voltage transformer.

PS: Taco zone valves have become very reliable during the years. At one time they were considered junk. They simply would not last. Not no more though. They work great!!!

Ifin i have my way, thats all i install is taco brand components. Even down to the boiler fill. Taco all the way!
