Either it is plumbed to a hot water source or hot water is migrating over to the cold water side and getting to the machine.

    Iced Up
Check the float switch to see if it is sticking and staying in the freeze cycle. If the water tubes are clear they might be freezing up inside the tubes.

Building "engineer" put hose clamps on after the first tee exploded.
And I can assure you, the tees are exploding. I've had another unit in the building trip on high head due to hot condenser water. It's gotta be hot water with this unit as well. There is no rhyme or reason to it, but every now and then the buildings cold water gets extremely hot. Plumbers are on site now trying to fix the problem.

Ohhh, I didn't think about the unit getting hot water. That is a remote possibility, but I still think the hose would slip off the barb before it burst. Plus, even with hot water, there just isn't (normally) anything past the inlet valve that would cause much backpressure.

I also could not explain the one I found, that's why I didn't try to Just replace it and let my mind go blank "Ignorance is bliss, ignorance is bliss..." ha ha! They have since moved me to a different service region, so I'll probably never know if it happens again!

Why? All you have to do is install a pressure gauge with a manual reset needle. I will also place some Vaseline on the water inlet line to see if it melts.

Everything after the inlet valve is clear.

Something is fishy with this situation.

Those pumps don't produce more than a few psig of pressure. Even if the city water pressure doubled, the volume through the inlet valve won't change much, and neither will the pressure. The outlet side of that valve is basically atmospheric. You would have to have a pretty major restriction in the inlet headers or something that would cause the inlet boot to burst. I don't really even see how it COULD burst. It is pretty thick rubber, and the hose would slip off the valve barb long before it burst.

there is no way a hoshi pump is going to have enough pressure to burst a hose.

check water inlet pressure and water inlet tubes for restriction.

I personally don't think it's happening during the fill cycle... There are other ice machines close by that have never had an issue with water pressure.

I believe it's happening during pump out. The water pump is supposed to reverse and flush the sump water out a separate outlet.

The problem is, this pump out cycle only happens once every 10 cycles. This would explain why after the tee is replaced the machine runs fine for awhile before the tee explodes again.

But even then, I'm not convinced the water backs all the way up to that inlet tee if there is a restriction on the pump out line.

I've also had one burst, several months ago, change it under warranty and no more issues as far as i know...

Never heard of it. Do you know if it's happening on the fill cycle? Could there be excessive city water pressure?

Does that pump reverse direction to pump out ?

Hoshizaki KM151MAH inlet rubber tee exploding

I have a Hoshizaki KM151 at a hotel we service. The engineer tells me the rubber tee directly after the inlet water valve keeps bursting. I've never seen this happen before. He says its the third tee he's installed. It will run for several cycles, then the tee will burst.
I checked all the rubber hoses/distribution tubes for obvious restrictions... Nothing found.
My only theory is that after several harvests when the machine calls for a pump out, the check valve is restricted and the pump out water backs up into the distribution area and swells and bursts the tee.
Has anyone ever dealt with this? Any input would be great. Thanks.
