I live in Mesa, AZ and we have several of the Wal-Mart neighborhood markets up and running and they are real nice! They mainly sell groceries and also have a pharmacy. Nice because they aren't as crazy busy as the regular Wal-Marts.

Unless kroger stopped the double off coupon you are off base.There was more than one time that I was paid for a grocery item with the double off.

There were 2 or 3 neighborhood markets planned for here. I think all 3 are on hold due to neighbor complaints.

We have a Walmart Neighborhood market down the street. If we don't need stuff from the non-grocery side of super wally, we use the neighborhood market. They've got good prices. Heck of a lot cheaper than Meijer and Kroger. W/D is a poop hole.

I know a lot of people hate wally-world, but they sure got good prices. Heck, they've started selling Adams Tight Lies at super wally...I got 3, 5, and 7 woods for $150 total.

Don't blame you BC. Scanning errors are a real pet peeve for me.

The War Department and I went into K Mart tonight. There was a little lugage bag with a price tag on it for 7.49. I said,"hey this is a good deal" When we got to the register it scanned up $14.97. I threw a bitch but they wouldn't sell it as marked. So I didn't buy it.

When I get to pittsburger for the convention and all my duds are in a brown paper bag, you will all know the story.

Rumor was several years back Kroger made an offer for W/D, an W/D turned them down. They should have taken the money and run.

It's only another six months before W/D does their annual store closing tradition again.

Personally I like Kroger better I wish we had one here instead of wally world.

Refrtech and Baldy.......I wasn't referring to the Super Wal-Marts. There everywhere around here and that's scary enough. It's this new approach that concerns me. They are now building stores to go into direct competition with "your neighborhood market", not one where one would go to pick up some cheap work boots, a fishing rod, spark plugs and a cold case of Bud.

Wal-Mart is not always the cheapest. (As far as price goes.) They will match ad prices of the compentition. Get behind a smart shopper with a couple of ads and you will be there for awhile.

There are some people that need help with life skills. My neighbor works for the agency that helps them. The are called consumers and go to wal-mart on Thursdays evenings. One of these mildly retarded adults was in line with a couple of ads. It was taking forever and I noticed some coments about "their mental capacity". I thought the consumer was the smartest shopper in that line and probally the whole store.

Frozen.....10-4 on the W/D

I really like Publix for a market because they maintain higher standards than any of the others locally and as such offer better quality of product, truly professional service and a pleasant atmosphere for their customers. I'm don't want the cheapest, I just want consistent quality and value for my money.

I shuddered when I spied this new Wal-Mart going up in Melbourne. You may well be right. They have the power to take over the entire retail industry in this country. I just hope that someone in the justice department notices this and dusts off the currently ignored antitrust laws.......you know the ones that broke up Ma Bell back in the 80s?

We have a Super WalMart here. It has a large grocery store as well as your normal WalMart. The regular grocery stores around here always have to have big sales just to keep in competion.

They want to try that here but the NIMBY gang doesn't want them where they were proposed. Other than Aldi, Wally World blows away everyone else on grocery prices. Wouldn't mind having one near. The Super Wally near me is SO hard to get into.

When ever my wife goes down South she loves to go to the Publix markets. We don't have a supermarket chain that can hold a candle to them up North here. Maybe WallyMart ought to start a store in the Northeast.

They are the only ones I have ever seen scare Publix. With good reason also, they are willing to lose money for years to get market share. I have my own issues with Publix, but I still hope they win.

I wasn't sure if I should post this in the Refrigeration & Icemaking section or down in the ARP so I chose the middle ground.

I was on the way back from a call today and noticed a construction site sign announcing the soon to come "Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market". It appears to be be a free-standing supermarket of about 50-60K sq ft. I hadn't heard of this deal before.

A quick Google told me that they now have about ten of these around Arkansas and Texas. These folks really like the supermarket business and appear to be going for the gold.
