Don't be afraid to stand up to anyone. He might writht your check, but you are the one who puts the money in his pocket. The worst that could happen is you will be without a job, just like before you meet him. The best is that the ahole will respect you.

Look for and find a better job, then when you give notice to the current employer, demend you be paid for any of the times he screwed you. If he refuses, file a complaint with your states labor board, sue him, whatever. You need to get out from under that company regardless though.

MTinbert; When you do a job and it goes great and your boss makes extra money on it what happens, gee I bet I know. When I first started our boss wouldn't pay us for call backs, I learned fast. Then I told him if he screwed with my paycheck I would screw with him, that seemed to work. Now many years later I'm the boss and that kind of stuff doesn't happen. But a tech has to make money for the company or there will be problems. It is the boss who is ultimately responsible for the quality of work and it sounds like this guy is to busy going to the bank, or knows you won't do anything about it. Check your options before talking to you're boss, that way you have a stronger hand to deal with him. Also start a journal to keep track of the things that are happening, and your pay stubs or lack there of. Good luck and don't lose faith, from pain comes glory.

I'm with crisis on this, if you have bills to pay now, you'll have many more later. This is the type of thing that will last forever if not stopped at this point. If you fall for this now, it will be this way every time your "boss" feels like getting some free labor. Ask your co-workers if they have had to do this also, and file a joint complaint with the labor board. Believe me, this will work.

Stupid is a stupid does. You have bills to pay yet you just spent 5 days without pay sounds like your bills are not going to get paid after all. To many people are 'job scared' its time you stopped being one of them.

I expected to hear from you a little sooner r12 ive been waiting...some times you cant rock the boat on the other employees who could all make your life hell if you are not in with them so maybe you have not been on the other side of the fence in a while seems like you must be a manager or want to be???????? Not trying to make a prob with ya but you dont see the side of the tech anymore..Some guys can mess with you if you rat them out not saying that was the case here but keep an open mind..........If i had a boss who said i had to work for free i would get my time back one way or another.....enjoy r12 i expect i will be reading more from you..

If you worked for me, and you said there was a mess at one of our customer's site's and it appeared to be the fault of the last tech sent out there ... and that tech was my employee.... I would call a meeting and get some things straightened out.

I might decide to send the both of you out there to fix the problem.

But if you worked for me and didnt say anything about further work being necessary .... I would have to trust what you decided. I dont have time to second guess my workers.

And if you just up and decided to dissapear for five days and do a freebie job for the customer .... with no billable hours in sight .... I wouldnt know quite what to do with you!

I would like you to invite your employer to this forum and open it up for public debate.

    What do you say?

Exuse me for saying this mtinbert but you are freakin NUTZO !!! Like others have said it is ILLEGAL for your a$$hole boss to make you work without pay ! Grow some balls dude !!!! Tell him Monday morning that you want your 5 days pay that is OWED to you or you are walking and reporting him to the BBB and everyone else you can think of !!Hell I would walk anyway, if your boss does not know that it is illegal to do what he did , who is to say what else he will try to do !! I understand that you have bills to pay but you say that you are a refrigeration tech right ? Why the hell are you worried about that job anyway ? You should be able to gie him your walking papers @ 7:00am and have a better job by 8:00am if you are a 1/2 decent technician !! Just my opinions though !

I agree I can do a complete install in 5 days. What leak repairs takes 5 days? I'm guessing theres more to this "who got screwed" story.
