Not sure how many techs or customers they have left. Haven't talked with any of their guys in a long time, I heard there was a layoff a while back.

Would you say Hussmann-Chicago is good Union shop to work at?

There are plenty 'A' card guys doing comm refrigeration service in supermarkets. There are many more 'B' card guys. If youre worth the money, they will keep you busy.

I'm not sure if there's been an actual Hill-Phoenix branch. It may've been a Tyler branch.
Do you know if Heatcraft runs a service division maybe branded such a Kysor-Warren one?

B Card wages has to do with the low street rates and full service contracts the shops have with the grocers. No formal guaranteed 40 but you can just about work as much as you want. Got a buddy who put in a few back to back 100hr weeks this past summer. Guys at the same shop maybe working 25hrs on straigh time and 30hrs on OT. I don't know whats going on with Hussman, I haven't done market work in over 5 years. I know alot of things were up in the air because of the spinoff from IR. No Hill Phoenix as far as I know.

So Rack Techs working for Local B-Card wages is the norm, but a Rack Tech can be paid up to Local A-Card wages?
    One plus is guaranteed 40.
One minus is Local B-Card up there is less than National SJm down here.
Is the Hussmann branch big up there?
Is Hill-Phoenix still up there? If so, are they Union?

I misunderstood. Yes, There are guys getting paid that rate. The shop that does most of the supermarket work will give you all the hours you want at B Card Jm, and I know they are are going after comm and lt comm work. I have some contacts over there, and was offered a job earlier this year. All the hours I wanted but cosiderably less than I am being paid now. I know a handfull of guys at different shops getting A Card wages.

By a National SJm, I meant the 45.05 rate. That should be equal to the Local A-Card Jm. I've been in talks with a Local sig, but they can only guarantee 40 at a B-Card Jm. Another reason they threw out the B-Card Jm name is because they want to go after Com. Ref. and Light Com. Ref. work, which they say is B-Card work. This is why I'm asking.

I don't know anyone, but I never claimed to know anything. Guys are getting paid journeymans wages.

    Chicago Com. Ref. Question.

Is anybody here working as a Service Journeyman under a National agreement or as an A-Card under the Local Agreement, in Chicago, while doing only Com. Ref. (this includes Racks)? I was told only Industrial Refrigeration and Engineered HVAC work merits the higher wages. Any info is good.
