If it has been converted to electric defrost, you are going to have at a minimum one additional heater, possibly more, to defrost the coil.
does this have 2 thermostats ? Maybe theres one hidden under another sheet metal cover along with another solenoid for the hot gas defrost ? Maybe someone has removed some things and frankensteined it ..... we love to do that ya know
thanks guys..

It is probably a case that was originally piped for gas defrost that was subsequently used on an electric defrost system. Think defrost on a heat pump and you'll get the general concept.
Klixons clamped to return bends will operate relays in kick plate to turn on door anti sweats when case is in refrigeration, and turn fans off, supplemental heater on when defrost is started , if its hot gas. Might be a gas defrost case converted to electric. Look for contactor controlled by #3 terminal of clock, or if its just a single case #3 might go right to heaters. Wiring will probably be field modified, defrost power in case pan will also power a relay in kick plate to turn off fans for defrost, won't turn back on till fan delay klixon on return bend makes.

If system is pumping down on defrost then don't think it is hot gas defrost. Case must have had heaters added to change to electric defrost. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

The part located between the TXV and the distributer is an Auxiliary Side Connecter (ASC). This may be a system that uses either a method of capacity control, like 'Bypass to Evaporator', or uses a method of defrost, like hot gas defrost.
That line bypassing the TEV should have a check valve in it. Because it's the return line for gas defrost.
hussman 4 glass door fzr, two liquid lines..... liquid line comes into box, goes through a 163 filter then through a pump down solenoid...then it tees off one line hugs the suction line then into the tev...the second liquid line bypasses the tev and it goes into the line coming out of the tev between the distribution tube and tev... whats that?
