I had to call guido to take care of her.....Although see did buzz a few times
Bigbird, I think what we all want to know, is how was that thing in bed? Did it buzz real loud at the end? Did she finally fly away on you, or did you have to pay an exterminator?
They had big wings with signs hanging on them that said, i`m like my mommy,i want money....

Just not enough of these.......
We could probably come up with some good bbq recipes for these critters. How about chocolate cover cicada's?
I think you may be right BB. I'll take a few pictures of the Cicada's today when I get home. They're coming out all over where I live. When I mowed the grass last night they were landing on me.
I was a grass-hopper in my early days, even had a harly. I think that cicades thing is a cross between a cockroach & a pittsburgh flea.
Actually, locusts is a misnomer and applies to assgropers, er I mean grasshoppers. Not the ones that ride motorcycles and get busted up. Cicadas are those big wierd looking noisy things that come out of their shell and leave the shell behind. [Edited by midhvac on 05-19-2004 at 06:22 PM]

At least they don't know any better I hear there are frogs that do the same in some deserts. Thats the kind of life that will survive our upcoming thermo-nuclear-destruction. But HEY! If everybody calls um Locusts, why does the TV call um Cicada's?
At least they don't know any better
We call them locusts around here (Texas) as well, but we get them every year. I used to catch them as a kid and stuff our mailbox with them. When the mailman came along, he got to witness some interesting outgoing mail. How's this for a bug's life? Hatch from egg, bury yourself underground, hang out below the soil for 17 years, munching and growing up. Then you come up and if you're male, you fly free as a bird, sing for sex for 3 weeks or so, mate, and croak. If you're female, you hang out waiting for it, mate, lay eggs, and croak. Your offspring get to repeat the process ad infinitum.
It said that they are in the eastern US. I never heard of them. Are they the ones that you hear around mid August? We just call them locust around here. Are they the same thing? The hotter it gets the louder they get.
What are they? Sound like locusts. Link, link. http://www.agpix.com/photographer/po...3_caption.html It is a locust. Me and the boys like to follow the sound and shoot um out of the trees with a pellet gun.
