Yes it looks like a French made chiller due to the model number, also looks like piping has been changed too the PRV leaks are usually on the stub brazed onto the pipe not the PRV itself. Never seen or heard of the econimizer stub leaking before will check it out.

you may need the pipe vibration that damages economizer and economizer.

you changed the muffler the economizer line to the compressor?

That appears to be European machine to me is the cooler DX?
What part of the globe are you in?

I have never seen that kind of leak leak on a BPHE. There should be a muffler and pipe clamps on that line

Seems like a very odd occurrence to me.

Yes the condenser coils are a common failure, once they have been replaced with the new coils they seem to have no issues....fingers crossed.

    Hi servicetrane,

The relief valve was removed when welding the new econimizer into place. The initial leak was around the relief valve base. This was repaired and then a leak appeared around the stainless steel stub on the heat exchange approx 1 month later.

The heat exchange was replaced with a new one, then 5 months later a leak has appeared in the same spot on the new heat exchange? I have come accross the condenser coils leaking but not the heat exchange.

welding is correct that you used to weld the economizer.

when soldering the economizer withhold the relief valve?

We have 2 under contract. I haven't seen any leaks at that spot specifically, but the 2 that I have are leaky disasters. O-ring failures, suction service valve failures, micro-channel condenser coil cracks. Good full-maintenance contract. LOL.

Is there a muffler installed in the economizer line piping between the BPHC and the compressor?

How about some pictures and maybe a better model and serial number? How old is this chiller?

30XA Air cooled Carrier Chiller Economizer leaks

I have a 30 Xa air cooled carrier chiller, the economizer has had leaks occur on the exit to the compressor around the stainless steel stub. The copper pipe work has also cracked around the pressure relief valve.

It has been replaced and 5 months later the economizer has another leak on the new economizer in the same spot. The compressor has been monitored at different hz to check for unwanted vibration.

Has anyone had the same issue or can shed any light on the above problem?

    TD
