NATE Certification

I hope I'm not posting this in the wrong place. If so tell me. I am interested in getting my NATE Cert. and just wondered if some of you more experienced guys could give me some advice on it. I'm in East TN and I'm not required to have it but I like having knowledge so I am gonna do it. My question is, what is the best way to go about getting it? Sitting in class or are there online classes? How many hours are involved with getting certified? Feel free to throw what you got at me about not only these questions but anything else y'all might feel is relevant. Thanks guys.
