    Dad
Waterbed for 25 years then went to the sleep number 10 years ago and never looked back. I had the reconstruction neck surgery a few years back due to pinched nerves... Doc wanted to do my back but it's fine since the sleep number.

Don't get shell shocked when you see the price, it's worth every dime and delivered by UPS.

I broke the center cartiledge in my rib cage twice, sleep number is the only bed I can sleep in any position on. BTW I have it set on 8.

Simmons here. Nice and thick, hard but not uncomfortably hard, great support. While it transfers less motion than your regular mattress, you can't expect to plop down and not wake the Mrs. up (don't ask how I know ). Got it like 10 years ago, we turn it around every time we change the sheets, still going strong, good solid sleep, no back pain. Cost about a G delivered, probably way less on your side of the border, no memory foam stuff.

I hear you, OP. I was mattress shopping 2 years ago and my brain was going in circles with all the stores, brands, fancy names, etc. I had no clue. I hate shopping anyway. Wasn't willing to part the big money for a sleep number bed (believe I will next time I'm ready for a new mattress). I wound up going to a very local mattress store that makes their own stuff, no big fancy name brands. Took my back a month or so to get used to it, but I'm happy.
