I have an older one of these... without the GFI plug or circuit breaker. Definitely a nice fan and useful. One does need to put it on something in an attic, it will suck up and blow insulation if set in a pile of it.

Squirrel cage fan is too directional for me (you gotta be right in front of the air discharge). I bought a Q Standard floor fan and I love it. $29 from northern tool on sale. 18" diameter. 4550 CFM.

Hmm, moving setscrew?

Perhaps a little loctite thread locker would help. Take out set screw, add thread locker to threads, tighten.

The red 271 won't allow the fastener to move unless you apply heat.

You can find both at most auto parts suppliers.

Look into the Fasco Power Cat Blower.

It last's but it becomes a high maintenance item after awhile. The clips that hold the blade covers also come loose.

That's a good fan, it should last about a month before the blade set screw works it's self loose. I use fans inside the buildings I'm working in. I have the 36" orange fan from homey d's too. It moves more air, enough to work in a 900 sq. ft. class room when it's "warm"= 85-95*. I have a 4500 cfm evaporative cooler that I'm about to convert for job site use to help me finish out all of these classrooms that need to be ready for the teachers this summer. I have never used a fan on the roof here in Tucson. Usually shade is the better than "hot air". I do wet my hats and bandannas along with my shirt to get some evap cooling working for me.
