frog toggs are nice reasonably priced , get gore tex if money isnt an issue

I've only had it two weeks, but so far they are better than any rain gear I've ever had before. They're very squashable and are really light weight. They are more like a cloth than the old rubber like rain suit. Very similar to tyvek. I highly recommend them.

How do the FroggToggs last?

Are they packable, squashable, pocketable or do I have to keep them hung up?


Looking for some camping/hunting/fishing rain gear.

My wife got me a pair of frogg toggs a couple of weeks ago. They are like a tyvek material, really light weight and work really good. Refrigerant turns them colors though.

I like the hat/froggs toggs. Think I will try those first, if that doesn't work. Carhartt.

Carhartt makes a heavy duty Black nylon waterproof coat, retail about $160.00. Sorrell also makes one for about $120.00. I bought the Sorrell one and have had it 3 years now and it is holding up well. A couple of the techs where I work have the Carhartt one and swear by it. All day rain in Portland is very common. My family came to the west coast from Indianapolis. For pants I bought some snowboarder pants on sale at the helly hansen outlet store.

We don't even go up on the roof in the rain.

Then again, we don't get much of that light all day rain, there is usually significant wind, some lighting, and the threat of hail/tornado.

You can remove the chinstrap or just tuck it up inside the hat.

Beyond that, I just wear a heavy PVC rain jacket and replace it as needed.

My rainjacket cost about $25 and I've had it for several years.

Of course, I don't do too much coil cleaning anymore. Not sure how the chemicals would affect the Goretex of that hat, either....

If I didn't work in the rain, there would be days that I wouldn't work.

Well, my "PM" is just filters, coils, belts. It is what my position is right now.


When we pop the covers, and it rains, we close the doors and go inside for a second. Most of the time is spent spraying out the coils though, so we are in the rain for that part.
