    Fort Lee..jersey side

just over the GW bridge...and is just north of the stadium....believe it or not there are no hotels in that area because of that area. http://www.econolodge.com/hotel-ft_l...state_country= staying in Midtown is going to be $$$$ if your staying a couple of nights but the subway lines on 6th Ave "D" 205th street line and Grand Central NO.4 WOODLAWN take you right to the Stadium at 161st and River Avenue...if your not sightseeing then forget Manhattan.maybe Queens near the 59th st bridge they have upscale hotels you can cab it up and back no problem...i'll get back on the Queens ones.sure the neighbor hoods are tough but aren't most of the stadiums like that.it's a great night out enjoy it

Wow, what a line up. I did not even know some of those power bands were still around. that is a hell of a hard rock line up.

Appreciate the heads up. I was thinking it'd be better to stay near the stadium for convenience, but I guess it's more convenient to stay safe. Time to scour priceline for the manhattan deals.

Carbon is right, you don't want to stay near Yankee ..
Anywhere below 96th street is ok... where, specifically, depends on the thickness of your wallet..

You don't want to stay anywhere near Yankee Stadium. You want to stay in Manhattan. I'd suggest anywhere between 42nd street and 59th street on the east side. You can hop on the 4 train and be at the stadium in a half hour. Trains are safe and the immediate area around the stadium is full of cops. Safer than Broad St. that's for sure.

    Question for NY city folks

I'll be in NY for a few days in September and I'd like to find a hotel in close proximity to Yankee stadium. Since I've only been to NY twice and stayed in Manhattan both times, I don't know a whole lot about the area around the stadium. Any hotels/areas I need to avoid when I'm booking or is it pretty OK around there?

I'll be spending most of the day at Yankee stadium and alcohol will more than likely be involved so I'd prefer to stay somewhere within easy walking or subway distance.
