My wife is a public school teacher, 9th grade, fortunately she mainly teaches advanced bio and gets all the good kids. She has taught the other basic science classes over the years as well. Some of her stories make you wonder where these kids parents are. Her dad was a teacher too. He called up this parent once and was telling the guy about his goofy kid and the guy said, "I didn't bother you all summer did I, so don't bother me now, deal with it."
teachers are the most underpaid and underappreciated people on the planet-they have to teach, beg, plead, with the students these days- when I was in school, the paddle would convince you to pay attention if the teacher couldn't
I wanted to teach school back when I was a little girl. Glad I did'nt. Now I been offered a job when I retire to teach at the University of Houston, Victoria campus. I'm full of BS now. But have some things to say. [Edited by oroy54 on 01-27-2005 at 08:29 PM]

I think Jr.High teachers should get hazardous duty pay.
You betcha! I wouldn't be a public school teacher these days on a bet.
My grandson is in the 1st grade. He asked me to come to his class this morning to be part of his project. I had to bring in pictures of him and me and tell about things we did together. The little rug rats were running everywhere. Yelling and wrestling. The teacher was constantly admonishing them without blowing a gasket. Wow. I don't know how she could put up with those 15 little monsters all day. It was the longest 15 minutes in my life. I was glad to get back to work.
