The furnace is fine. They just built the house wrong. They put the floor on the wrong end.
There was a time when Lennox made counter flow furnaces with stainless exchangers and that application was acceptable. But that ain't one of em.

The vent pipe, while annoying, is run "correctly". There is a full cover for the front of the furnace that has appropriate knockouts for the vent pipe.
Actually, you can install those furnaces upside down, as per the manual. I've done it once. Mine didn't look like that though....
The furnace has to be upside down... Look at the writing on the labels on the blower door cover (its not aligned on the left like you would expect), and look at the energy guide on the side of the furnace. Also, I don't believe the flue was designed to be ran that way...
I just don't understand the level of stupidity in some people!!
