When you install the LLSV's put them close to the TEV so that when they open they don't send a hydraulic kick down the liquid line, when they used to build them in the factory with TEV's they put the LLSV about 30feet away (model size dependant) and the liquid line used to go through a variety of bends before finally getting to the TEV and they used to break the lines due to the kick when the LLSV opened.

Low water flow can cause the low superheat alarming on the non EEV system to happen a lot. Trust me. Now matter how dialed in you get it. It can be worse if the system you converted is farther from the in coming water looking from the top of the barrel. Go big or go home.

Sure, it can be done that way, but the software has certain safeties in play with the EEVs that it doesn’t with the TXVs.

Not sure where Jayguy got that info from, but that is incorrect. I ran one system with a txv and two with EEV's for several years. Then we changed the second one and left it running with one EEV for another year or so, until that eev failed. Then the customer decided to do all three on the second chiller and the remaining one on the first chiller at the same time. That sounds like a typical JCI response.

You can not change 1 valve. You will have to convert all them or none of them.

The kits that come from York now are properly sized, unlike the first one I did several years ago. The hardest part is getting all the residual oil out of the liquid line for brazing in the new llsv. Since the first one, I've eliminated the eev's on all six systems at one site. Chillers run much better.

Yes, they are eev's. And yes they are obsolete because York does not use them anymore. I'm going with the thermal valve and installing a llsv. York parts never knows whats going on, but a fellow mechanic from my york days had the bulletin I was looking for with the valves needed from york.

Are they electronic? When I upgraded , york sent me a thermal valve to replace with,

    YCAS300 expansion valves????

Currently working on an YCAS300EC46, I have a failed expansion valve. I contacted YORK parts to order a new valve. To my surprise, the part number that is in the york parts renewal and stamped on the valve is an invalid number. 025-37857-000. The danfoss website does not help in locating this as I am sure it was made specific to York equipment. The info from the danfoss numbers are ETRE80-90 103TR/360KW r22/R407C ACTUATOR 24V AC 30W. Has anyone had any luck with replacing these with another valve or know of the Danfoss valve that would replace this? Thanks!
