I don't need a light so bright it burns my eyes when shining it on a schematic- that's what my Streamlight would do.

I can't hold tools and a flashlight at the same time.

I started using one of these and will never go back. Can hold it in your hand or wear it.

    Perfect for installing Tstats.

Surefire is no doubt the rolls-royce of flash lights, but I own a terralux and it has worked great for five years now. I am going to mount one on to my .338 lapua and that will be the real test of durability!

If you want more flashlight info than you thought existed check out Candle Power Forums

    My personal recommendations are:
Big light, very bright, belt holster: FourSevens Quark 123^2 Turbo X
Small light, still likely brighter than most you've seen, shirt pocket: FourSevens Preon 2

I actually enjoy shopping for and buying this kind of thing but I've got no excuse since these fit my service work habits perfectly.

I also dont use a trouble light more than once or twice a year, instead I prefer a head lamp like this one.

Surefire all the way! You pay for what you get with this company.

Edit: These lights were made with LE and the Mil in mind. If you want a flashlight that can take a beating and stand the test of time then Surefire is your ticket.

    Dorcy

I use the Dorcy 41-4750... my first one has lasted 10 months now, with everyday use on my tool belt.

    1) Uses 4 AA batteries- since I'm a big NiCad fan, I use re-chargeables, and they last at least 2 weeks.

    2) Strong center beam with a wide cone around it. Perfect for service! So strong you can't look into the beam.

    3) Lightweight- used to carry a 2-D Mag-light.

You can run it for hours before charging and it gives off an
    impressive amount of light.
Is that the m18 or M12 version?

I've been seriously considering an M12 flashlight to replace the little LED maglight that rides in my toolbag as a backup.

    LED or incandescent?

Checkout the 'streamlight' STYLUS - 2 AAA batteries, fits right in the shirt pocket with no sag.
Try J-mart, had them on sale for $20 or so.
Had my for 4 or 5 years now.

Streamlight Strion LED has been the best flashlight I have ever owned. Use it daily for over 4 years now.
Carry it on my belt next to my leatherman. I also have a Streamlight Stinger, Surefire model something, and a good head light..and many others.

Buy the Strion and you wont be disappointed. No more batteries or bulbs

Zebralight SC51w is my choice for an EDC. The Neutral color is great and spits out almost 200 lumens on 1 AA battery.

Also able to use it as a night light when on vacation for my son (0.18 lumes for 16 days).

Drops, falls, kicks across the floor, a couple dunks in the lake, mine just won't quit. LED or incandescent? I could potentially see problems with an LED due to rough handling.

Yeah, I've replaced the lamp a couple times, and batteries as needed.

One little hitch is sometimes, the tail cap switch will get a coating of some sort on it and needs to come out and be cleaned maybe once every year or two.

If a hundred dollar flashlight quit on me in a year, I'd crawl so far up the manufacturer's backside that they'd choke.

Maglites are a dime a dozen. I don't care for them. Children's toys, really.

I had a Streamlight NF-2. I paid an arm and a leg for it. It was so bright, I could have guided planes in with that thing. I thought it was going to be a great flashlight, but it was a total lemon. The batteries are stupid expensive, and I had to send it back twice to get the switch replaced. It took forever to get it back both times. It broke a third time, and it has sat in my toolbox ever since then.

I'll stick with the mini LED mag-lights you can get at Wally World for $20. I have my complaints with them, too... But they haven't nearly as unreliable as that P.O.S. Streamlight

Check it out. If it broke today I would buy another tomorrow, Although I don't see it breaking.
