Superheat is factory set at approx 10F(spring tension) and the TXV/TEV should work properly if no field adj have been made. If you want to check superheat try this. Example R-12 walk in box. Gauges read 37# = 40F evap. place an accurate thermmonter near the feeler bulb. Let say it reads 50F.... +50F -40F ---- =10F superheat. Note: Tech's in the field that change the factory set superheat settings just create more problems for himself or the next tech.
Somewhere in the far reaches of my overloaded mind I used to remember what superheat settings to look for on freezers, coolers, AC units....anyone help me to recover my memory?! For some reason 7 to 10 deg on AC and coolers rings a bell...is the bell ringing right?
