    I ended up getting a 2011 Express 3500 with the 6 L V8 only had
    6k miles. I tried a 2500 with the 4.8 L V8 and empty it was good.

I do haul tons of stuff, and not sure the 4.8 could pull it.

If anyone needs a 2010 Express with 22k miles it will ready to
sell in about 4 months, only has 19k miles right now. The interior
will look new, as I get the 12 passenger model and remove the
interior to put my racks in. When finished I pull the racks, and
reinstall the interior. This 2010 Express only had 2k miles when
    I bought it.

The 4.8 does good enough. It is getting to be common as you said. I have driven the 6.0 and 5.7, like them both. I have a 4.3 in a 1500 that is an 'extra' we use just in case, but it is a 1500, and limited. All our new ones are 4.8's, though, and they serve the purpose with decent fuel economy.

What is the use, and load? That helps to make the choice.

i must have gotten the rare execption, the 08 rides and drives better that any of the vans i have had in the past, im not usually heavy loaded, but from time to time weighted down, we have an 05 with the v6 and its a nothing like the 08, chevy made some changes in those three years, i only drive the 05 when mine is too junked up to haul a job out

I've never drove the 6 litre, but I've had 4.3L 1500 and 2500 vans. They were good but don't get in a hurry. My 07 2500 has the 4.8 and even loaded with tools and a ladder on the roof, I haven't noticed any lack of performance. I'd say test drive one and see what you think (probably be hard to compare with an empty van though.) John

ive got an 08 express 1500 with the 4.3 v6, and it has more power and better fuel mileage(19-20mpg) than my dad who has an 06 express 2500 with the 6.0 v8. when i test drove the 08 i thought it had the bigger motor, wouldnt have ever guess it was a six, in my opinion unless your pulling a trailer or hauling an extremly heavy load, the v6 is the only way to go!

Ive had both, the 4.8 doesnt compare. Its ok but you wont win many stoplight races. The fuel economy is around 13-14 mpg.

Chevy Express Vans with 4.8L v8.

I have always had Express 3500 vans with the 6L v8. They are getting hard
to find. Have found a few 2500 with the 4.8L v8.

Do these engines have any power compared to the 6L v8. I have the
feeling that once you go with the 6L v8, you never go back.

I have seen discussions where they say they have no power, I could
not live with that. To me the 6L needs more power, but then again
    these vans are heavy.

    Is the 4.8L v8 a mistake.

    May have to keep looking.
