Eddie , you can finally use that tip you got from that old lady you ganked last year to have those trees cut down.

I wouldnt pay the extra money to have them cut them up, you can do that easy enough with a sawsall. That way we still have half a chance at a good story....I mean laugh...no story


just havethem cut 1 tree , watch them to see how they do it , then DIY

I tell it it's ugly and its mama dresses it funny. That usually does it.

Gruvn, do you have any local lumber companies? Down here depending on how many trees and how big they are they will come take them down and pay you for them.

An ancestor of mine died when a tree he was chopping down fell on him while he was helping a neighbor clear some land.

I think that knowledge has kept me alive for a long time.

That's just a drop in the bucket for a big bucks guy such as yourself aint it?

Many professionals have died cutting down trees. Nothing to screw with if you've never been taught how. You're making the right choice....

As I stated before. "this is not a diy project" Fat Eddie makes soooooo much money in the air cond repair busniess that he can afford to have it done , but it would have been damn funnier if he would have dropped it on something first

I'm in the middle of cutting down a fir tree (not sure what kind exactly but its 20 ft from my house and 20 ft from my garage and my neighbours garage with green houses right close to it. its about 50 ft high with big branches. I have chopped off lots of branches and lowered them to the ground with a 16 inch electric chainsaw.
Slowely I will cut more branches off till this ones down
never done it before but used common sense. the branchs are bigger on the ground

Eddy, you mite want to check with your local codes, around here , if you cut down a tree, it had better not be an oak tree. They go so far as making the general contractor take out a bond and put up a temp fence around an oaktree

800 bucks a tree sounds about right. Ive got one in my yard that needs to come down . They have a power line and a telephone line running through it. They dont have to do anything but drop the tree, the city comes by and picks up the debris---for a grand

They are not doing anything but dropping them, I was scared to ask how much to chop and grind, I figure I can handle that part, these things are about 75 feet high and about 60 feet from the house, the others are shorter and further away, but I don't want to mess with them. I just want them down so I can use the space. The 37 trees will give me about 60 more feet of usable space, with 3 acres of trees left standing.

I don't mind dropping trees in the woods. But if you live in town hire a pro.

In front of my house I had 3 split leaf maple trees. The trunks are 2.5-3ft. in diameter. They are approx. 75 ft tall.
Two have died so far. They are about 75 years old.

Being that I live on Main Street I am not about to assume the liablity of killing some one when the tree comes done.

It cost me 800 bucks for one tree. This included grinding the stump and hauling everything away. Well worth it. Even the pro wiped out a stop sign at the intersection when the main trunk came down.

I have a verbal estimate to take ten trees that are within falling range of my home, and twentyseven that are not. It is three thousand to drop 37 trees, I have him coming out tomorrow to take a look and give me a hard estimate.

Hey, just have them remove a few. If they don't use a lift bucket, stay around and take notes.

Then do the rest yourself and save a bundle.

On second thought, go with your plans. I've had near misses with trees and paid $275 to get one down near a power line. (He was removing an old huge elm next door and had the bucket and chipper.) I mean, I could have done it, maybe. But, I was due for the big one so I chickened out.

figure if I stay close to the trunk then I won't need to move to far to get out of the way no matter which way it falls, this is right isn't it ? I mean if the tree is 2 foot diameter the mast I would have to move to get out of the way is approximately 3 feet.

Eddie , That is correct, stay as close to the trunk as possible . Make the first "V" in the direction you want it to fall, and cut it almost all of the way through, then move to the other side of the tree and cut right at the point of the v, and watch it fall..

Yeah, I'm going to let the pro's do it, It is critical that we know our limits and this is one of mine. A thousand bucks will look pretty small compared to killing someone or myself. So I will show them the trees to cut down , then I will take my family for a ride while they cut them down and come back and start chopping them up. Thanks for the help guys.

If you want to do this yourself at least stalk a tree cutting company for a few days to see what they do. It is obvious that you have never see a fallen tree jump back.

ok I am going to pay to have about ten of these things dropped, what would you guess I will pay for this ?

Dropped only , and made to rest ( not held up by limbs )

I am thinking about a grand, what do you think ?
