oh I am sure you could freeze a dx chiller! but since it is a tube bundle full of refrigerant surrounded or placed in a barrell of water, it would be hard! I think?

They are not busted yet. I was just thinking that bypassing evap in winter could cause it to freeze if ambient gets cold enough. Then I wondered what a chiller barrel costs. I have never replaced/retubed one.
how do you even freeze a DX chiller barrell????????? there is refrigerant in the tubes??????????????????? sounds like somebody gettin a new chiller!!!!!
Replaced a 99 RTAA 100 ton barrel in Aug. 40k$ job and done in a day. No rupture though the plastic baffles were warped due to hot water damage.
