5 gallons of york L oil

I have found the oil filters covered in some kind of spongy filter looking material, i was thinking it may have come from the soft liguid drier gasket. just a guess on my part.

I've seen it posted here before, and it speaks with great wisdom. If you are already spending 15K or so on a compressor, it pays to replace a $600 oil separator. I have one system that I have replaced the windings in , as well as tearing down to replace the slide valve spring. When doing the start up check I found the oil separator sight glasses had 3/4 full on the upper glass and 1/8 on the lower glass. I am thinking that they screen inside the separator is partially plugged, not allowing the oil to drain to the bottom and into the oil feed line. Needless to say this one is locked out until the separator gets in.

The one problem I had after a burnout was installing a suction line drier. Although not particularly hard I found that the drier was before the suction pressure transmitter and the pressure drop across the drier was causing the superheat to be incorrect. After a short period of time I removed the cores and let the unit run without them. A good dose of acid-away can also go a long way. Try about 5 doses.

Ive thought about changing the seperators, after I restarted it it kept plugging up the oil filters, after 3 of them it ran for 3 days and burnt. Its being tore down by york today.

does anyone know how much oil is in a circuit (#3) on a YCAS0440 with the DXS compresor,York is in no hurry to call me back. I found nothing in the manual and Im starting from scratch after a burn out.
