MAN do I have a story for you.

My journey told me a story once where he got called to take a look at a walk in cooler in a restaurant. He went and the coil was frozen over. So he decided to take the torch to it and just loosen up some of the ice. A few minutes in he starts hearing noises like turds hitting the water. Plop! He thinks it's just small chunks of ice breaking off. A few seconds later the same noise. Plop! He thinks nothing of it and keeps going.

After a few more plops he says "okay wtf is going on here?" He looks at the drain pan to find about 8 frozen solid mice in the pan. They had been living in the evaporator. He also saw a few of the lucky ones scurry along the coil and into the holes for the pipes and into the insulation of the walk in.

He tells the chef about the mice problem and the chef says "Yeah, don't worry about it. Hey it's almost lunch would you like a sandwich?"

Just for the record he declined the offer on the sandwich.

Most fridge work I ever did outside school was door seals on a 2 door low temp reach in. Fun how you need to get them just right. I'll stick to my HVAC.

Yes,it is. I'm on perpetual call. We stay really busy, but we prioritize importance of calls obviously. A freezer trumps basically everything and we work our way down from there. Some things get put on the back burner for weeks if they aren't very important. We've gao a decent handle on it,but if anyone knows a couple of good techs in the Nashville,Tennessee area we're lookin'!!

Thanks alot everyone!! It's great to have you guys as a resource.Myself and one other guy do all the work for Church's Chicken, about 20 stores and we have 55 Burger King's in the Nashville area, needless to say we are as busy as a one-legged man in an asskicking contest. We run across some pretty strange things with some of these units. We service the RTU's,ice machines, w/i freezers and coolers, reach ins,and different types of kitchen equipment: ovens, steamers, fryers,Bunn hot water dispensers, etc. Thanks again for welcoming me! I look forward to chatting with you guys!
