I was raised in the Everglades, which is mosquito central. I tried all sorts of machines and sprays and nothing seemed to work all that well. The only thing that seemed to work was this. Get a pump sprayer and mix up 6-8oz of malathion per gallon of water, after you have that maixed up add dishwashing liquid soad to the mix (this will help it stick). Spray the area you want protected plus an additional 10ft barrier. Now this may not keep everyone of those pests away but it greatly reduces them. Just remember when you do this that you don't go into the grass for a few hours untill it drys. You will need to repeat this every few weeks but it works.

I have one made by Blue Rhino same as the mosquito magnet.
We have had it for two years and as long as I remember to replace the propane tank it works great. The tank last about a month covers about an acre.
The way they work is to produce carbon dioxide to replicate our breathing this draws in the female mosquito she goes up a tube and is trapped. The Coast Guard put these on one of their bases in the Caribbean and it made possible for the personnel to enjoy life outside.

For your property you will need a couple of them place them out around the house and yard in the prevailing wind and they will clear out a nice comfort zone.

I agree with chad! I have one on order. I have a friend who has one and he said it allowed them to sit out in their yard at night when the bugs are the worst without being bothered by them.
Depending on the unit size the gas consumption is'nt bad. One that will cover one acre will use approx. a 20# tank of propane in a month.
If you want a good repellent for mosquito's/gnats try a spray called Permanone. It was designed to be a tick reppelent but it works excellent for skeeters as well. Its sprayed on your clothes the night before you wear them. It can be hard to find since it is'nt approved in all states.

They DO work, get it you wont regret it. Trust me on this one...

I heard the same thing about the bug zappers.
Put them in your neighbors yard or at least some distance from YOUR house, and attract them AWAY from you...

Do you have mosquitos on your property? A friend of mine had one of those bug killers that run on propane. Is that what you are talking about? Anyway he had it up to his camp. We get these flesh eating gnats up in the mountains this time of year. He didn't like his. He still had insects and they use a lot of propane.

3M makes a product called Ultron. Works really well to keep them off of you. The only thing that works at my camp is moth balls in my charcoal smudge pots. Do this 2 nights in a row and it last all summer. Around here.

Of course you'll have to take Shane for ice cream when you are burning this stuff.

Some things are advertized heavy

and don't really do anything tho. Ever hear of an Ionic Breeze Air Purifier? I'd like to qualify the product first. I'm packing chemicals now.

Paul Harvey says the Mosquito Magnet will keep your whole yard mosquito free. My yard is 5+ acres and I'm less that ½ mile from the S. Platte River. I'd say the odds are low of it helping but the Platte River Valley has the highest # of cases of West Nile as far as I know, in the whole country, and the very young and very old are most often killed. My 1 yr. old son wishes I would do something. Any of you have one?????
