This time the manufacturer didn't abandon the buyer so probably it doesn't go that far.

It certainly seems that the manufacturer also has redesigned some components and wants to R&D those in the real world but at least this time they seem to be going in the right direction. What irks me is none of you distributors have talked about service or recall bulletins on the original products so I have to wonder how many customers are sitting on old junk that really need mods or replacement. That's a shame that this company didn't "man-up" about the whole situation...

I got my new Ae corn stove yesterday and it is so quite I do not even know it is running. The ash pot door is much more solid then my old unit and currently I am having no problems.

Good to hear. They will probably take the old one back to the R&D lab to investigate what happened.

The company is replacing my unit with a brand new unit from the factory.
The engineer said this is this first report of a electrical fire. My unit is an AE.
Thanks for all of your help and recommendations.

Sounds like you have an AE unit, not an original which was discontinued and would not have any upgrades available.

FYI it is a multi-fuel stove (pellets, corn, sunflower seeds, etc) not specifically made for corn only.

Since I cannot see the stove physically I do not really want to speculate on possible issues or causes. Good luck with your visit, hopefully they can get you something that will work correctly (either repaired or new stove).

I think you need to see the other thread on this board and find the UL listing link to report this.

Additionally, I'd look on that unit for any other certification such as AGA labeling etc.. and seriously contact them and state your issues and also reference this site.

Maybe you want to seek some legal assistance for contacting these agencies and the company, especially if you have some sort of lemon law in your state for this. This manufacturer obviously is negligent on it's product and it's responsibility and liability to prevent some serious condition within someone's home.

I believe it is an original Mt Vernon but it has went through all the upgrades as they were available from the factory.

Is this an AE or an original Mt Vernon.

my history of mt vernon corn stove

I have owned my Mt Vernon free standing corn stove for 2 years. I have had 6 service calls to date from everything to heating elements burning out to several computer boards replaced since the stove was not working right. Two nights ago the stove had an electrical fire in the computer board area and it is fried. Without pulling the rest of the back off I cannot see if there are anymore damage from the fire. Has anyone else had a fire? The companys engineer is coming to my house next week to see if they are going to repair or replace the unit. Any other comments would be welcome since I am a new to this forum.
