I use a ZX-1 have had it about 15 years or so.
It works on 410A just need to slow down.
I have also had leaks that are really hard to find on 410A.

there is a frequency range filter you adjust to cut those out. LOL you use the same adjustment to listen to motor bearings and balast (seldom ballast) but elec leaks

Walking around outside in the wind and actually found a NG gas leak we did not know of, on the low pressure side from 30ft away in wind!!!!! went out and bought one the next day! I'm not the guy that buys only high end tools I buy what fits my needs. I have found leaks that nobody else could and in minuets. All I need to do is point it from a close distance with out opening the panels and I can tell if it's leaking. It also finds leaks in walls and concrete. Also finds bad electrical connections and bad bearings. it listens for ultrasonic frequencies (leak whistle) it's paid for itself many times over
Which one do you have? There are a few models.

I bought the H10 when my zx1 died. Just bought a zx for use with everything but 410.

    You should get one?

Want a loaner YJ Accuprobe to try out?

I can drop it off, I will be up in your neck of the woods later this week working at the 3M plant.

I have the H-10, as well as Tif,Bacharach, But I only use my Infrared Inficom D-Tek Select, simply because IT WORKS, NEVER LET ME DOWN, LOVE IT TO DEATH!!

I think the infrared technology has a clear advantage over the heated diode's..altho they are good for other refrigerants, again my D-Tek is my goto every time

I've been using the ZX-1 for a while now with great success. You have to be a lot closer to the leak for 410. It will not respond like it does for 22. It's a small learning curve trusting the responsiveness but it hasn't failed me yet.

I just bought a used zx1, and a new accuprobe II
I'll put them up against the trusty h10 pro and see how they do!

Try the TIF ZX1 filters/tip. Fits right in place, better than the fieldpiece filters

Nowadays for 410 leaks I just jack my sensor heat all the way up to its highest setting on my H10PM. Finds the 410 leaks every time. I have been doing it this way for about a year now and it hasn't really worn the sensor as bad as I thought it would. According to the instructions for the sensor, you are to place the heat adjustment at the 8:00 setting. I have to set mine to about 9-10:00 to get the display to move to green during the calibration with the test vile. When I am done testing a 410a leak I just move the heat adjustment back from max back to 10:00. I usually start out on auto but usually wind up in the manual setting with 1 tick/sec. and it hasn't let me down yet. One thing about the h10 is that it wont alert to bubbles or cig smoke. (tryin to quit)

Anyhoo, I picked up a test vile for 410a that's labled by UEI and its a great tool to test these detectors sensitivity to 410. They are sold on Amazon for about 7-8 bucks I think. Good investment.
