I've dealt with the JCI branch in my office... The few techs that I've had have been fantastic. Straight shooters, great guys and knew their stuff inside and out. They'd be one of the first places that I'd be calling.

Work overtime on the tough jobs and your boss will see that you are not a 9-5er. When a chiller goes down you have to go right now and in a lot of cases, stay until it gets fixed. Chiller work is hard work so you have to be a go-getter. If you are lazy then go be a politician. This is where it all begins.

Im not saying JCI is the greatest thing out there. My experience was with a small office (Fayetteville NC). Great service manager , and close knit bunch of guys. Would go back there in a heartbeat if I could get the wife to leave this hell hole lol.

its all good. i am a big believer in individual responsibility. if the local office is out of whack as a whole, then they deserve the reputation. if it is just 1 person (aka: the branch manager) is all goofed up, then that 1 person is to blame. i have seen organizations that were alive simply because 1 person was so good, they kept the whole company afloat...so it works both ways too.

We trade accounts with the local JCI branch pretty frequently. We go through periods where it seems like both of us are hemorrhaging service contracts, and then things turn around... It's a revolving door for accounts and techs in many cities...

i don't know where you are located, but i doubt that i worked for you. i work for a jci branch. we are getting busier and busier and its going to be a crazy summer! and it isn't because of corporate policy...it is because of our local branch management and our local talent. we are very dedicated, communicate like crazy with our customers and our local management team...and they get it...they understand and show their appreciation. our office is going to rock-out this year!!

maybe not all of them are like us. but to blatantly say all branches suck, shows your lack of knowledge and insight.

Make serious inquiry into what kind of hours and on call slavery is required and ask yourself if you really want to give most of your life in this manner for a paycheck. As it was in Texas, you really will not have a life outside of total work in any real way.
Its a very unbalanced, brutal affair.
Getting your foot in the door with an outfit like Trane usually involves knowing some people. They will train persons to work on Centrifugal chillers and it goes about 3 years before you will be on your own typically.
Be sure it really what you want to do.

Maybe he has done something wrong in the past ?

They are getting a poor rep . But they must have something that nobody else does. Because I don't think we could get by without them. Well they own York So they are not going anywhere.

    Here is another thought.
They can pick and choose what they want to do because they have that option apparently.
I've never worked for them nor am I bad mouthing them, just telling you readers my experience and my opinions.

When I worked at JCI, we made a few mistakes, still do, but never had the fear of losing our jobs over it. Sounds like bad management.

That sounds about the way they do business. I have founds lots of stuff broken after their so called maintenance crew left. When calling the office to try to work things out they called my sup. and told him to tell me to stop complaining, of course we cancelled the contract.
