Roncool if you are not taking away from your family. You are not hurting your business. You are enjoying the fruits of your labor then it is not the alcohol that makes you go to the bowling alley. It is the need to socialize. When you are setting in the bar all alone and are drinking your 3rd pitcher at 2:00 o'clock in the afternoon then you may have a problem.

Try going into the bar and just drinking non-alcoholic beer and see if you have as much fun. I have a feeling that you probably will.

I think this thred is timly for me. I started going to our local bowling alley after I close down. My HVAC business has done well here in Caslifornia. At the end of the day I rather injoy a few beers because of all the stress of keeping up with it all. At first it was once a week then twice, now it has been almost every night, and at least one picture of beer. I don't really drink anywhere else and I don't drink hard drinks. I worry because this is becoming a habit. I almost feel trapped I know alot of people there, and I like playing Lottery. I don't want to drink anymore but I like going, Should I just try drinking cokes or coffie, or should I just bite the bullet and avoid the place. I am old and wise enought to understand that not much good comes from drinking, but breaking this habit has been tuff.

The game was a typical high scoring charity event with no hitting but it was a gas taking my daughter to her first game.

Hey! One of these day we'll make a trip to the ocean. I plan on a few Rum Punches! LOL!

On a serious note. Yes alcohol can take over your life that is for sure. On the other hand it is enjoyable to have a few beers with friends and family at a party (or a convention) So I don't think I could make a total commitment to not drinking.

As I got older I drink a LOT less. You guys should have been part of the 60's and early 70's. Very lax DWI laws. A womans place was in the home. Man, the bars were packed until 9-10 o'clock EVERY night after work.

I guess for myself I have digress from a drunk to a social drinker. I don't drink every day any more.

I had a great time at the convention and hope to host one here in Chicago area someday. Everyone was nice to meet and I don't remember getting out of control too much. I still have me some beers on the weekend but then again we have no kids around to worry abaout and I never drive when I'm drinking. The hangovers are a bit harder than they used to be but I think it's just getting older. I try to stay away from the hard liquor, it's just too quick of a downfall. With beer, I can enjoy the evening and not wake up wondering what I did or whom I may have pissed off.

Went to a charity hockey game tonight

The teams were made up of a bunch of current (out of work) and retired NHL players. I enjoyed a few cold beers in the stands while watching the game.
Of course, being Canadian, drinking beer and watching hockey is like being American and arguing about politics.

Well i've just got to tell ya every stupid thing I've ever done involved a woman..............and maybe alcohol.

25 years clean & sober here. Before that, 13 years without missing a day. I didn't think I'd be able to kick it because everybody in my family had drinking problems and couldn't quit, so I figured it was hereditary, like a physical addiction.

Never could drink one and stop, and I always found a reason to have the first one. Then I'd drink until I crashed at bedtime. What I didn't realize all those years, was that I didn't need the first one as much as I thought I did

But cigarettes, I NEED THEM!!!!

HaHa! I used to say that about whiskey or tequila. "Naw, I don't drink tequila, it makes me break out. I break out doors, windows, safes, all kids of stuff"

Dice is right, save it for an occasional night out. just 1 beer after work and all I did was sit on the couch or sneak out to the garage for more. I'm reminding myself of that old song..... Dont drink dont smoke What do ya do?
