Dude this could be a real PITA. Companies spend alot of coin for engineering and the like. And their assemblers have everything they need RIGHT THERE, with a PLAN for everything from wire routing to door frame heaters.

I'd run too. If it were easy to build a comparable product to the industry standards everyone would be doing it.

True makes a commercial combo unit on casters you could dress up like your buddy wants if I remember it was about $3,000.00

Unless you're planning on doing the engineering, material gathering, installation, start up, and warranty work on these units for free and completely out of the goodness of your heart, this gentleman is going to have significantly more than mid $K into this.

The idea that he's 'cheap' enough to not want to spend the kind of money to have a couple of systems that are professionally engineered and manufactured, but would rather have a 'buddy' put out a similar quality product for less suggests you might want to not just walk away from this.....but run - fast.

If I remember correctly, we aren't allowed to give step by step info in this particular forum. That said, even if we could, I'm not sure a person, even with my refrigeration acumen, would be able to help you with all the information you will ultimately need to make this happen.

Is there any way of kinda putting your tail between your legs and tell your friend that while you can fix the hell out of a broken down unit, fabricating a couple of units from scratch is simply not your forte'?

Sounds like it is more expensive to build it.

Sounds like a major undertaking. Why not just look for a couple used reach in units on casters and install a skirt around the bottom?

Reach in cooler and Reach in freezer

I have a buddy that wants me to design a reach in cooler and reach in freezer for his kitchen that are on casters but looks like its just setting on the tile in there that looks like its not moveable and both units run on 115V.

He wants them to be both the same size of 2.67ft deep x 2.67ft width x 5.83ft tall. Building the box wouldn't be my problem but designing the refrigeration system is where I am needing help.

What I'm thinking is using a Johnson Controls Electronic Temperature control for both to control the temperature inside and shut the compressor off when design setpoint is reached.
