I was 18 years old as a Canadian Soldier posted in Germany in 1978... and my first exposure to "Yaggy" Jaggermyster... was pretty damned dynamic! Woke up in 'sick bay'... they were ready to send me back to Canada on then next Military flight... Thought I 'coded' on the table... MAN... WAS THAT FUN!!!!!!

I like Ouzo, or however it's spelled

I really like the flavor of licorice. Problem is that I will get sick real fast with any cordial types of drinks like that.

Another one I really like the taste of is Jaggermeister. That Vick's Formula 44 flavor is one of my favorites.

Uzo isn't so bad Robo... Or should one say... it's rather good. Just a hi-test liqorice tasting elixir.

Not like the mind expanding rendition that Outside Rep dished out.

I'd say one of the worst of the best drinks I've endured was... crappy beer I made. Fun drinking it with buddies on a motorcycle trip... yeasty at best... and had us whining like hand spanked puppies for the better part of three days.

Thing is... I remember the flavour and wish I could repeat it... but have not met with sucess in over 15 years.

I still say that that Mezcal (burnt cork) tasting tequila or whatever... was the worst I felt as an oxygen using mortal.... I'd rather a electric pencil engraved rendition of the statue of liberty tattoo'd on each eyeball first, before I go through THAT Cinderella Dance again!!!

The "reposado's", or "rested" tequilas have been stored in wood barrels for a few months, just long enough to take on some of the coloration and flavoring of the barrel.

The "anejo's", or "aged" tequilas have been aged in wooden barrels for at least two years which increases the flavor and coloring over the reposados. Depends on how much you want the barrel flavoring over the blue agave plant flavor.

El Tesoro Paradiso is a mix of tequila that was distilled right to 80 proof and not watered down from 120 proof. Half of the mix has been aged in whiskey barrels and the other half is unaged for the more fruity flavor of the blue agave. Then, the mix is aged for three years in cognac barrels. The result is an ultra smooth, fairly dark tequila with a lot of flavor.

I have had cognac lovers say it tastes like a very flavorful cognac and have had customs agents identify it as cognac by the aroma.

My buddy had a bottle of it at his house. I haven't even looked at a bottle since that day. And that was about nine years ago. I took a whiff...still no way.

I love this stuff. Whether black or clear. Straight out of the freezer.

I didn't have a chance to get that Patron over the weekend. Parents are coming down this week. I think I'll surprise my Dad with a bottle of it as he's bringing me down a couple cases of beer.

Oh boy oh boy, a chance to talk about tequila

Well, I am a sipper of this elexir of the gods, so I do like good tequilas. For my taste, my favourite is El Tesoro Paradiso which I pay about $120 a bottle for. My favorite at home sipping tequilas are Patron Silver (the only unaged tequila I really like) or any of the mid-priced anejos.

As mentioned, to be a true tequila it must be labeled as 100% blue agave and must be distilled in one of the five Jalesco providences of Mexico. Even Jose Cuervo has been producing better true tequila's for the gringos up north in the past few years.

If a bottle does not state that the contents are 100% blue agave or if the contents have been packaged in the United States, it is a mixto of tequila and sugar alcohols. The sugar content greatly increases the alcohol level and is what adds to the lousy feeling the day after.

All coloration of true tequilas comes from the barrels in which they are distilled...no additives are allowed. Tequila is naturally clear.

Mescal is not tequila. It is a close cousin of tequila, but not the same. Tequila's do not have worms. The worm is an advertizing ploy started by Monte Alban with the bottling of their mescals which I do enjoy once in a while.

Tequilas can have different flavors due to aging process or distilling techniques. Silver, or blanco (white) tequilas will have a more fruity flavor of the blue agave plant (which is not a cactus). Some tequilas are distilled to 120 proof or so, then watered down to the more common 80 proof. These tequilas will have less flavor and more alcohol bite.

I had the same situations with Southern Comfort and Goldschlager...minus the lemon and salt.

I've since been able to drink Southern Comfort, but still no cinnamon schnapps.

I washed down a fifth of tequila with lemon wedges and salt. And never have gotten so sick in my life. I had a pounding headache for 3 days and vomiting and dry heaves for two days.

After that experience I cant even smell that stuff to this day.

tequila and mezcal are the same thing. only the state of jalisco is allowed to name the drink tequila. If the same thing is made in any other state it is mezcal.

What do you think of this? I once knew a chemist of sorts that said a person gets intoxicated and suffers a hangover depending on the number of carbons in the alcohols consumed. He claimed an alcohol like pure grain alcohol is ethanol and has 2 carbons which would =4 but wine has some propanol also and has 3 carbons =9. His claim that alcohol poisoning takes place as the square to the number of carbons is interesting as I have known people say the worst hangover ever was on wine. Also I remember in the movie Dr. Strangelove the crazy General Jack D. Ripper would only drink Grain alcohol w/branch water to protect his precious body fluids. ???

Thanks, I ahave sure thing if I want to go into Lennox PD&R but I am trying to hold out for a job with Trane as a FSR either in Dallas or Tyler. I should hear something on Monday. Monday I have a spot that I start at Lennox. I am burnt on working the grind of so much call duty from contractors. I do have it set up with my former employer to address some training needs that I couldnt dedicate myself to when over loaded with all kinds of extra stuff. If I can get a few more contractors involved I will offer technical on sight training as a first job and may be sub a service call here and there but I haven't solicited any companies, facilities, or apartment complexes as of yet. I figured those would be a good target group. I know R12 tried to do something similar in Austin but Dallas is considerably larger and was going to email him for some do's and donts'
