    Perform a Level II inspection first. Sweep out as much creosote as possible. Make repairs as necessary. The install per the code and listed instructions. Pretty easy.

    No big deal Papa, as long as you can get gas line there and liner ( or 2 ) down the chimney. You might want to get 120V up there as well if you go with fan option. You have a on/off switch on surround or put a remote controll on it and enjoy.

    trouble time
    I just did this for my Wife. (Christmas Present) For me getting the gas line through the outside to the inside of the fireplace was a little tricking (measurements had to be exact or It would look like poop.) Other than that, a direct vent insert fit right in. I picked up a model from Napolean fireplaces here in Ontario. I was surprised at how easy it was.
