actually, they just gave me a new 3/8" ratchet, no questions asked.

but i did have one question "can i keep the broken ratchet?" ... "no."

"but it has sentimental value..."

Tech Rob mentioned Snap-On and the like.

I have few of their pieces that were handed down.. Very nice and functional. I can't afford them. More for auto mechanics that use those types of tools every day. Most of those poor guys have large debt to the tool truck.

For us it's mostly an adjustable wrench, which works better for refrigeration anyway.

Craftsman has very rarely let me down, and if that 1/2 inch ratchet did break, I had another ready to go, because they are affordable and I can return it for free replacement no questions asked.

I still like and buy from sears. That being said the list of tools I would get from them has shortened tremendously in the last 20 years.

I will throw in my $.02 on Sears and say that I pretty much feel the same way as AiResearch and y7turbo. They're still one of the first places I go when I need something, and I don't buy unless it's made here. I don't walk out empty handed very often. I think people that preach about the superiority of Snap-On, MAC, Matco, Cornwell, etc. are just tool snobs.

I'm with Turbo. Sears is still a GREAT place to get good quality, American made tools, at reasonable prices, with lifetime warranties. I just purchased 2 LED inspection mirrors and a small level that were USA, and there is all sorts of neat tools there in multiple categories. I am sadened by seeing some of the mechanics tools with a China stamp on them, but I would say 95% of the stuff in my local store was USA. Maybe Sears can bring back the other 5.

I have a Craftsman table saw my father gave me that is 20 plus years old, with lots of hours, still runs great.

Just got back from Sears and got a brand new 5/8" ratchet wrench to replace my broken one, the replacement was made in USA and free due to the lifetime warranty.

Also, the 3 pullers I put links to from Sears were on the shelf and are made in the USA.. They also had 2 different posi Lock pullers in stock, which were also made in the USA.

I'm going to try to put my personal feelings aside about them and say this:
I have major concerns with the longevity of the company, hence a lifetime warranty would mean diddly squat if they shut the doors.

Lifetime warranty is nice from Sears on the tools, thats the biggest reason to buy there. If the tool breaks, you walk in and get a new one or its gets ordered.

We're not talking about TV's here, we're talking about tools.

Ever since the K-Mart dude got in control they were all about their bottom line and could care less about their customers and employees. I'm really surprised the retail side hasn't went under yet.

Head over to Sears and look at the different size pullers they have.. The Sears near me has 3 different kinds of pullers in stock. If you have a Sears near you, they might have them as well.

I own the large 2 arm puller, its under 50 bucks and works for most things I need. I also have a smaller one to fit in tight places..

yea I checked today and I use the 206.. Good puller. Great size for most tasks..

tell the boss to buy it..... I would for my guys.....wtf

Let me make sure I have the 106 Gravity. THat one I use the most and will do 90% of my work. We do a lot of old built up equipment. There have been multiple times where the reach was the problem always the width.

The 110 is good for everything else. I think the 06 is what you want. I mean that puller is even on the big side of things...
