Yes the BK is true RMS. And it was because of their test gear I didn't hesitate.

I was curious. The only one I found that's true-RMS is the 5390, which sells for about 300 bucks.

The Fluke 179 is about the same price, but has the built-in temperature feature, and is ruggedized.

Am I missing something here????

BK makes the best bench gear. I've never used, or seen anyone using their portable DMMs. I have one of their O-scopes.

So, is that a true-RMS meter for 220???

Fluke, Fluke, Fluke.... You guys have a one track mind. Fluke is overpriced. I've used a BK Precision for the last six or seven years and it's a lot more value at a good price. AC DC volts, 400/1000 amps, capacitors, frequency, resistance, noise maker, and off. $220. It's like when the school boyz only want to date one girl.

well those you listed are fine ...until you need to know amp draw on blower motor with the panel in place,then you have to buy another meter or accessories.

They putting blower contactors inside the blower door alot these days????

from what I've read and the people I've talked to, it seems FLuke is the way to go...I don't know enough to sort out good from just as good....so going to take the safe path and stick with Fluke and Yellow Jacket stuff for now....but got to admit it is soooooo tempting to cut corners and go cheap (Harbor fright flyers call out too me in my sleep) rather than spend a little more $ and get the best (or best my budget will allow) than waste $$ buying the cheap stuff now only to replace it later. I'm a lot luckier than most people...I'm able to pick up 16-20 hours of OT a week for now (going to cut back to 40-48 hours a week during school like I did last semester) to offset my back to HVAC/R school tools, and still get my teenage daughters their back to school stuff.

why not the fieldpiece #LT-17?
It has more functions than any,at about 100 dollars.

I love my T5-600. I have abused it for several years now and it just keeps taking it, hasen't let me down yet. If I were to run over it tommorrow I would get another one just like it. I really like the fact that I dont have to open a clamp(just lazy on my part)

The 321 is a better choice, really.

But the T5-600 is a decent, low cost meter also.

I've got a 322 and chose it since it also does dc voltage. The T5 will be ok if you stay in residential but it only goes up to 100 amps. The 321/322 will do 400 amps.

Payday's thuresday got some OT $$ and need to get a clamp meter for school.....so my choices are (as I see it) a
Fluke T5-600 or Fluke 321 the both seem to do the same thing...IF IF IF I'm reading the Specifications right...just one is opn and one is clamp on.......soooo oh wise and all knowing members of this board what is your recomendation????
