I don't understand why some companies spin themselves off only to sell. When "The Trane Co." spun itself off from American Standard it became "Trane Inc.", but only to sell to I-R. It would've made sense for I-R and UTC to streamline its Mechanical, BAS, and FSS services under one roof. With UTC selling Chubb and I-R spinning off its Security Technologies division, both have exited the FSS market. I believe only JC has Mechanical (also as an OEM with York and Frick), BAS and FSS under one roof. Let me know if I'm wrong.
I think i remember our Trane account manager saying that Trane was one of their most profitable divisions but the security divisions were weighing ir down. I think they had hoped to integrate bas with security, but it might have been too much of a stretch to make both groups work together. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
So it looks like the big Ingersoll Rand shake up doesn't involve Trane at all. IR is going to spin off it's security division, including Schlage to form a stand alone company.
Scary.
Don't rule out Daiken.
He said he hasn't heard semiens buying but "something is in the works" and they will know for sure what's gonna happen the end of December
My uncle in law is vp of ingersoll rand and trane equipment so il ask him today at thanksgiving and see if he can give me the scoop
I just spoke to my friend here at the local Trane branch. He said Trane is on the market, they just don't who the front runner is yet. Actually I-R Security isn't too bad, it's not just door locks. In some markets, they compete with Firehawk (the former Chubb) and Tyco Fire & Security. So will it be Trane equipment with Siemens BAS? Or something else all together?
I guess ir wants to get back to yje core business of making blowers.... and door locks. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
I remember hearing this rumor back in 2004'ish. I wouldn't go buying or selling any stocks over it just yet.

Is this rumor, or speculation on your part? One of my friends from a Trane branch told me about it, so I called another friend from a different Trane branch and he said everything's preliminary right now. Actually I-R is claiming high losses from Trane right now, just like it did before it somewhat unloaded Hussmann.
