    TechView

I have been able to download and use the latest version of the software. I called Trane and they sent me a link for it and the service pack.

I'm not sure if I'm using the proper terminology here, but you only need to delete the active version of TV from your computer (the one that currently opens when you click on the TV icon). You can have several versions saved in a folder, but you can't run any two at the same time. One of the early problems a lot of techs had was that they would update to a newer version right on top of the old one without deleting it.
Create a new folder and call it "CH530", then download TV from the website, saving it into that folder. Then you can install it and even if you delete it later, it still resides as a zip file or something similar in your CH530 folder and you can reinstall it. That's the way Trane teaches you to do it. Back in the early days, it was common for TV to freeze up so bad that the only way you could get back into the MP was to delete and reinstall the same version.

As far as the TV program, it's still open source and the same one the Trane guys use, with the exception that they have the Kestral software key that lets them do some pretty nifty stuff with it. Not sure where it's going now that IR has taken over. When chillerguy said he couldn't find it, I was worried that it had been pulled from the site. Time will tell.

    HMD,

I would say yes, that shouldn't be a problem. I'm guessin you'd kinda be starting from scratch then, which is pretty much what I did and it seemed to load up ok, although I haven't hooked up to a machine yet. I reckon things are getting a little chilly in the windy city about now, might be a bad winter. I'm already thinkin about hitting Klove up for some real estate info down in Bama, getting too cold here in Pa for me already!

I'm probably still on v11. I will have to download the latest version and go from there. Last time I used it I had to change COM ports and other things to make it work.

My biggest issue at the moment is an oil change on a Carrier 30HXA as I can't find a drain point on the separator, so the Techview issue can wait until I try and figure out a way to do the oil change.

    Thanks

    Tech View software download

Does anyone know if Trane has taken the Tech View download off of there website? Had to get my work laptop overhauled and didn't bother saving tech view, now I can't find it any where on there website.
