I was told not to install one due to the system does not have a true liquid line set. I have seen many installed and have have had none fail due to it being installed. I have only had 1 compressor fail and 1 reversing valve fail on me in many years of installations. I am very carefull on my installations and try to follow the installation guide to a tee so I don't have issues. Issues cost me money. They recomend flare fitting instead of brazed. Less likely of clogging a strainer.

Have replaced a few of these strainers with 032 sporan driers on small cooling only non inverter units, one is still running 10+ yrs later having been moved twice.

Fujitsu does not recommend installing one but I've also seen it done with no issues.

okay so i can get the strainer/capillary tube together. thats great info and i dont see why the filter drier wouldnt work. if it's sized for the correct tonnage it shouldn't alter the refrigeration effect too much. if i cant get the strainer that would be my second alternative.

    filter drier question

Hey guys I'm working on a fujitsu 1.5 ton system which had a restriction right before the strainer into the capillary tube. I suspected the restriction to be within the capillary tube so I cut it out out along with the strainer only to learn the restriction was right before the strainer.

The restriction is clear now. I know these small residential minisplits in most cases use capillary tubes with strainers only.. can I substitute the strainer in this small system with a a filter drier ? If so, how do I size it for my system (r-22) ? If not, can these strainers be purchased ?

    Thanks !
