    Do I win anything??

    A tee shirt?

    Some pocket protectors?

    Anything at all????

If I remember right, a while back, you were challenged? Do you remember?

(A hint, it was from Lusker and me.......)

Good job favoredwun, you are now truly the "favored one" for this event

Hope to see you at Comfortech. I'll be the aging, somewhat overweight Adonis. (Don't most of us in this industry think of ourselves this way?)

Thanks for your kind words, encouragement, and the prize itself!! Wow, I still can't believe it! As soon as I heard about Comfortech 2007, I knew I wanted to go. Just couldn't figure out how I would get there. Now, I'm going! Guess you can tell I'm pretty excited!

I look forward to learning sooo much there, just like I do everyday on this board. I'm sure I'm not the only one who goes straight to the computer everyday to see what's new on the boards. I have to force myself to turn the computer off to get some sleep every night, 'cause there's so much to learn. Even today, I'm in the heat all day long working on a rooftop unit, and I should have had my fill of this for today, but I haven't.

I'm totally sure that I should have done this straight out of high school. Could have saved my parents all of that prep school tuition, myself 4 years of college tuition (1st degree), and all the years of aggravation in an office job.
Did you get my email? We need info so we can make your arrangements. Please contact me today. And Congrats again.

    Winning Essay from Favoredwun

I worked for a chemical company for 10 years, and due to a layoff in December 2004, I found myself unemployed at the age of 38. I wanted a change, and due to the layoff, I was afforded the opportunity for schooling and chose HVACR. It appeared to be challenging and appealed to my mechanical nature.

I began the program in August 2005, & completed my HVACR certificate in December 2006 & A.A.S in May 2007 w/honors. After not securing employment with a local company, I immediately opened my own business.

While I don’t recommend stepping out in business like this for everyone, I’ve enjoyed this industry more than any other work I’ve done in my life. I’m challenged daily to be the best technician I can be, becoming acquainted with product lines and offering superior service to my customers.

If I’m selected to attend the entire HVAC Comfortech 2007 Convention, I expect to learn strategies to grow my business, be exposed to more product lines & cutting-edge technology, and meet some of the finest technicians, teachers, and business owners in this industry. I’ll also be afforded the opportunity to put faces to the many screen names I see on HVAC-TALK daily.

I will attend the Technician Day & any open exhibits, since, being new in business, I simply can’t afford to attend the entire conference. I look forward to this educational experience, as it brings me closer to my future goal of becoming Contracting Business’ HVACR Woman of the Year.
