All of which I agree with. I'm just not taking great pleasure in other people's misery. I can't kick them when they're down right now. Now, not everyone will react like you and I. So, let's say they're not the most ambitious. Let's give them 6 months or so to wake up and relocate - start over. The cream will rise to the top, and be productive again.

What's left will be the trash, lazy, incompetent, looking for a handout. But I just can't put them all in the same basket right now. [/B][/QUOTE]

You can say this but it is not your tax dollars supporting these people mine are. It is my tax dollars that are paying for the electricity to house them and keep them cool pay the water bill and gas so they can shower. My tax dollars that are providing police protection for them and against their assaults on the nearby neighborhoods. We already have a very heavy tax burden here in Houston we have had to cut back services like fire and police. Even with federal assistance it could bankrupt us. We already spend billions a year to educate and feed the estimated 400,000 illegal aliens here this is just too much.

We have and have had tax and spend Democrat mayors for decades because of the poor ignorant blacks and hispanics along with white liberals controlling elections in Houston. All we need is to add an additional 100,000 or so to the welfares rolls get them registered to vote in November elections and completely ruin our town.
For most of you the Katrina catastrophe is winding down and TV will move on to the battle over Supreme Court nominees. Those of us in Texas and particularly in Houston will be saddled with this plague forever; this could be the death kneel for two cities Houston and Nawlins. For us this could be worse than the last invasion from the northeast rust belt of the 70's.

ok. worked 60 hours a week but lived like a dog so the goverment can take more of my money and help create a fast growing culture of superloosers who are convinced they deserve it. I do what I can to add my money into the pool, so the left wing can add to their incentives to breed. I do this knowing that my kids will have to deal with the filth we have created even more than I do.

Pretty danm good of me, imo.
And living like a dog. You need to work somewhere else.

Good question. With all huricanes there is a significant number who decide to ride it out. And not just low income people. Wasn't it Camille that caused flooding and destruction but most who stayed survived? This one was a bit bigger and had more of a sea wall generated and then the levee broke causing more flooding than most imagined.

I probably would have stayed if I had survived past storms and had no where to go.

Perhaps this one will be a lesson for all. And more people will be made aware of Shelters that are available and public buses and transportation will be used more.

could it be because they didnt have jobs....just the money that the govt takes away from me so they can have six kids?

they couldnt afford to leave? Than why do they have kids? man I wish I could afford to have a kid....its time.

Maybe, just maybe, the majority of these people make up the depandancy class of this country?

could it be that the dependancy class of this country is the absolute weakest portion of this country? fastest growing?

    probably, most of em.

why is it that the dependancy class finds so many naive bleeding hearts who are willing to take even more of my money to help them?

what if millionares, were in this situation? would the dependancy class send them some taxes back, or pull the race card when welfare drops a little in the absence of their tax money.......

seriously, answer me these questions. I honestly want to know where the guy who would call me a racist stands. By the way, I grew up in the ghetto, I know where the dependancy class stands.

Really? Ever in the service? Probably not.

I've helped build schools in Panama, Portugal, Jamaica, Guam; as a member of the 157th Civil Engineering Squadron. 17 years.

Twice my family and I brought a truckload of toys to the Philippines and played Santa to poor kids at Christmas.

What have you ever done that was decent?

I've got proof too. Need to see pictures?

Second...I'm not whining. The hatred sickens me.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — In the face of a catastrophic Hurricane Katrina, a mandatory evacuation was ordered Sunday for New Orleans by Mayor Ray Nagin.

Acknowledging that large numbers of people, many of them stranded tourists, would be unable to leave, the city set up 10 places of last resort for people to go, including the Superdome.

The mayor called the order unprecedented and said anyone who could leave the city should. He exempted hotels from the evacuation order because airlines had already cancelled all flights.

Gov. Kathleen Blanco, standing beside the mayor at a news conference, said President Bush called and personally appealed for a mandatory evacuation for the low-lying city, which is prone to flooding.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What would have happened if President Bush didn't make that call, and why did the city and the state governments wait till sunday.

The government shouldn't have to micro manage any more than the rest of us, It's too costly, just as it is in business.

Compassion for a woman crying about milk for her baby? She looked like she was barely 30 and had five kids under 8 years old. No compassion there. She should have been neutered after the second one.

    well said
Well said? Would it make a difference if this person was white? Middle or upper class? And had five kids? What if she was a lawyer? A doctor? What difference does it make that she was barely 30 and had 5 kids? Here and now, what difference does it make?

Maybe she was perfectly able to support these kids before she lost everything. Or are you assuming she was a welfare mom? People like you and I are in that Astrodome too. People that had good jobs - and 5 kids. And now they have nothing.

Katrina didn't know class. Everyone in its path was affected.

My compassion doesn't know race, religion or class.

If she were a lawyer or doctor she could afford those kids.......the government has been paying for her

It does make a diffrence if you and I have paid for these peoples exsistance (welfare tax dollars). They are so used to the government doing everything for them. The government is not responsible for the storm. They should not complain when they get help the should do as much as they can to make the best out of a bad situation. They did not leave when instructed to do so ,and they did not prepair and now it is everyone eles fault?

well I dont know that EVERYONE is black or on welfare , but I know one guy that is white that is already getting sick of hearing how the white man is doing nothing for them , or how little the white man is doing for them .None of the people that have been displaced have refused any of the white mans money
The racial remarks from the Civic LEADERS of their community that ran off and left them behind are ridiculess
How much money has jessie or his brother al dumped into helping their brothers out
Here we are almost a week away and look at the number of people pointing fingers and blaming people for the mistakes that have been made

all of that blame and finger pointing isnt doing anything positive for anyone.

what has happened is tragic, and what is about to happen will become a bigger mess. there just arent enough 4 star hotels to put everyone in.

that's perfect and exactly how I see it.

Imagine if all the able body people got there asses outta there on Sunday. Yep walked if they had to a whole 10 miles then there would have only been a couple thousand people to rescue in that dome, that would have been a cake walk for the rescuers. Black white green lazy is lazy

Now they have to jepordize their lives, helping lazy stupid idiots who can't do anything for themselves.
